Default What makes you smile

Today it really feels like spring for the first time. Finally everything is green outside and it really looks like summer is around the corner.
I went for a drive on my favorite country roads, and had to pass a truck on a two lane.
When I saw an oncoming car I stepped on the gas. The car downshifts and runs up to redline before I pull back in my lane.

There is just something about 6600 rpm that just makes me smile. Maybe it's been too long since I ran thru the gears. Anybody else get that feeling. Summer is close, let it rev.

Just passed the 1,500 mile break-in today, got a big smile flooring it from the stop light for the first time.

On my way to work, a little elementary school girl (6-7 yrs?) was waiting at her school bus stop. She was looking happy and dancing around a bit, and I was honestly a little concerned about her safety so close to the 2-lane road/highway. But when she gave me a double-thumbs-up I got a real laugh. Cutest thing ever.

That was driving my Focus ST. Imagine if I had been in the C8 !?!

I took it easy for the first 500, then mild up to 1500, then let it rip. I have a long history of road racing, this standing start launch mode is really fun.

Real simple. I’ve had a C4,5,6,2-C7s (one was a Z06) and now a C8 SR. I’ve daily driven 365 since ‘93. Every startup and messing around at stop lights when nobody is around put a huge smile on my face. 😁

Any time I can get behind the wheel of my Vette and go for a drive, even if only to run in town errands, it is a happy moment.

It begins by just going out to the garage and looking at it.

4500 miles on My 2023 and I was coming out of a round-about where I had just downshifted to 3rd in sport mode and I nailed it up to 6500 rpms.
I was amazed at the brute power and torque this car produces, it is a beast that deserves respect indeed.
I can see where novice and newer drivers will need to ease into this one, it is more than you think.

Just looking at it in the garage makes me smile. Particularly when I have the door open and one of my neighbors walks by and admires the car.

I’m amazed how many walk or drive by and give me a thumbs up. None of my previous vettes got that.

My first smile of the season came yesterday, the 48th time I've pulled her out of winter storage.

It never gets old...

Taking speed-humps, dips, divets and other imperfectly smooth road features...at speeds that would cost most sports cars to eat $2000 worth of damage.

Opening the garage door and seeing my C8 whether I'm getting ready to drive it or not.

I have to agree. This is my second Vette (85 C4) and we have a 997.1 Porsche 911, but when I floored my C8 for the first time, I took my foot out of it after about 2 seconds because it took me by surprise. Went from 20 to 80 mph in the blink of an eye. "Respect" is the right word!

C8 is my 4th Corvette but between #2 and #3 was 12 years of Porsche. Traded in my 991 Carrera 'S' for my C7 but always missed it,,,,,,until the C8 came along. Haven't thought about the 911 much since.
