That's not the actual steering wheel. These pictures were taken quite some time ago, maybe early 2018, and we're just now sold to carscoops. Contract is probably over for the Supplier who snapped the pic. The only thing that can be taken away from this is the logo, nothing, not even the spokes, match the official steering wheel.
Maybe the steering wheel you saw was the optional one....No worries folks...it will only cost about 6900$ more.
Nothing else in GM's line has the "squircle" steering wheel. This is the real deal. May not be the final production part, but that airbag leather and stitching with the emblem sure looks production. Just because a part is "pre-production" doesn't mean it's not what the production part will look like.
This blind fanboying for Zerv02 is getting ridiculous. He got ONE thing about the entire car correct. He was wrong about the reveal, and was wrong about most of the stuff on the interior as well. And now hes trying to say that a steering wheel that looks fully functional, appears to be in production ready form... is not the REAL ONE??! Why would GM go through all this trouble just to trick us? If they went through that much trouble to make a detailed steering wheel like that to supposedly trick us, how do we know this ME car driving around isn't just some Ferrari or Huracan with a different body?! I'm beginning to wonder if Zerv02 isn't some random kid in Idaho that has too much time on his hands.
No need to keep trying to bash him. If someone wants to claim the car has tank tracks and you don't have any information to prove different, let them claim whatever they want. They don't owe you anything. If nothing else, it gives us something to talk about until GM reveals the offical car.
Everyone in the C8 section has too much time on their hands - lets be serious here...
LOL, that's so true! Its the damn smartphones, they are always just a touch away from Corvette Forum. I'm as guilty as anybody but I did give up checking in on the Politics section, used a 7 step plan.

Interesting how certain people (Zora_Vette aka Zora.Info) want to continue to beat up on Zerv02 without adding any substantive info themselves, but don't get on other members with longer histories who post the same information. Case in point, Elegant also mentions in #389 that this is not the C8 steering wheel. Whether it is or not, it's pretty ugly

Those who make categorical assertions like, "it's going to cost X," or "this is what it looks like," or "GM will build both FE and ME Corvettes," do get a lot of flak for arguably good reasons. Others like Elegant and myself try to be very careful to speak in terms of hypotheticals and possibilities. I think that's the difference.
What's the deal with thicker wheels anyway? I always liked the feel of thinner ones.
That comment shows your age a bit. My dad feels the same way. He hates thick steering wheels. Thicker steering wheels are better for grip in a racing situation. Blame BMW, they started putting thicker steering wheels in cars, buyers liked it, and so now it is everywhere. I like a thicker steering wheel personally, though some are so think its kind of ridiculous.

Well... I'm 22.
The C4 went from a relatively thin wheel in 84/85e to a smaller diameter about 1inch thick wheel 85L/86. I thought it looked goofy and out of place.
I get it for racing but for an everyday thing the way I drive (arm on window ledge and index and middle finger resting with the outer edge between at 9.) The larger ones are a tad uncomfortable. Guess it's just preference. I don't know. Some just look chunky.

I think the majority prefer the opposite for a firmer but more relaxed 9 & 3 proper grip. Skinny wheels require too much clinching especially for those with big hands.
Looks like those thinking this will be for sale around $65,000 are going to get a real wake-up call. IMO, this is getting a lot of cues from Cadillac. Shame.

Congrats on the 84'. I had one. Quirky but lots of personality. Mine was silver/gray auto with silver leather and Z51 suspension. Flowmasters sound great on an 84' btw. Hopefully you don't have any of the issues I had. The wiper switch went out on mine a couple of times. Also, the dash lights had a bad sensor which caused the instrument panel to go dark randomly. There was certain spot you had to bang on the dash and pray to hopefully fix it. Outside of that, most problems I had were due to the former owner.

Aside from it randomly going dead the thing has been solid. The previous owner before dad got it was a Corvette guy and knew the system inside and out so everything was rebuilt to factory spec on the injection side. I'm actually running a muffler eliminator with essentially glass packs in the tips. Had a flowmaster style muffler on it when we got it but that rotted out. Went factory style and it was too quiet so we got
. Took a long time to figure out what sound I wanted.
I had the same problem with my dash. I pulled it out 2 years ago and it was just a cold/broken solder joint on the through board connector. Worked mint ever since. My cruise also didn't work, turned out to be a blown transistor in the dash. Everything works except for the wiper sprayer. Which did work up until 2 years ago. Just doesn't bother me enough to fix it lol. Gotta wash the damn thing every time it comes out of the garage anyway. House is too damn dusty.
Gonna try not to derail this topic anymore. Sorry everyone.

What's your basis for this conclusion? I've seen no such documented info, but I have seen a lot of unfounded speculation here, based upon absolutely no evidence.
I prefer a thicker wheel... I put the alcantara OEM one in my 2014. Besides the crappy GM alcantara coming loose twice. I'm going back to the leather one as it's thicker in your hands. The leather is thicker than the alcantara by a good margin and it feels noticeably better to me.
A close friend who has two C7’s, got alcantara addicted on his second one. Slowly over time, he is replacing, on his 2014 Stingray, piece after piece with alcantara. While I admit it looks nice, even on his just eight month old GM replacement with its alcantara equivalent covering, when it was out in the sun the other day, I noticed all the fuzz has worn off next to the 9:00 and 3:00 spokes — and he does not wear a ring on either hand. His is about the third GM alcantara wheel that I have seen this phenomenon of premature wearing. While we know GM’s alcantara substitute looks nice initially, I am with Tool Hoarder in preferring the leather on my steering wheel.
However, if I were to track my car, I could well feel differently.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
