It is okay to have an opinion either way. One can always change one's mind.

Whitney" the car up, with tacked-on bits and pieces like those old model kits. None of it looks that good, and everything they add is another step away from the stylist's original vision. To each their own, of course - I'm sure the C8R will look great all tricked out, but that's what it's for. The "boy racer" street versions just look silly.
Even the C2, was never produced as Designers designed it. All you have to do is look at all the Prototypes from 57 on with it base body design, had one thing in common in all of them, an they were right in their judgement, but that feature never when into production because of it's base cost saving. It left the rear of car with out of balance to another body feature of car, so we added it, an there were kits produced to help with doing that a year later.

I'm 76 years old, so far I understand, what wasn't a problem for me design wise, was a problem for some others as they say/think, some of the C8 body lines on it make it look to busy, the Frunck's hatch's body crease lines for instance. Seem they didn't understand why the designers put them there. I didn't either until watching video showing they were there for aerodynamics, to direct airflow to side of car, an up and over top of car. Also, I'm guessing they are also there to help keep it from flexing when lifting it.

Also all the added features you dislike are for those that want to be able to push the C8 to it's and their limit at the track. I personally favor the "TRACK LOOK", even at my age. Guess that's because it's what I grew up with, making my car into my car. Hell, even the C2 Classic body lines can be updated to look more modern in my eyes at least.

I personally like what you call "The "Boy Racer" street version look. There is a shoe that will fit every "Foot", But not a "Foot' that will fit every Shoe", but there is a "Mouth' that will fit every 'Foot" also. If a Shoe fits me, I will by it, if it doesn't I'll try and keep my Foot out of my Mouth...an not be a Bigot about what others like.

AOC would not approve of me....LOL

Default Looks--Ugly, Subjective vs Objective etc

Of course looks are subjective. What is not subjective are the objective features and techniques that went into the design. The C8 is one helluva a busy design. Lines, angles and creases abound. These are further accentuated by all the aero doo-dads. As busy as the sides of the car are, the front and rear are even busier--and they are both huge. All of that is indisputable.

What is disputable is what it all adds up to... If you like the busy design language of the C8, you'll like the car. If you don't like the busy design language, you're screwed. Oh well.

The front end screams Corvette to me. I think the sharp creases in the hood and tops of the fenders and the grill, even the general shape of the headlights all seem like C7 design features. When I saw it in person it looked even more like a C7. Even the sharp creases along the lower portions of the sides are very similar to a C7. I have a C7 and love it, but I had hoped the C8 would be a little smoother. I do love the C8. I'm not a big fan of the exhaust location, I would have preferred something in the middle and maybe higher up so it looked more exotic.

Your thread is stupid, Mr. 71 posts, so I'm going to assume that you're stupid. I've sat in a C8 and it's definitely not ugly! Take your trolling and go somewhere else.

Your momma is ugly, but someone loved her.

This thread is about as ridiculous as my post above. Why bother to post, just move on and don’t look ridiculous.

The C8 is an impressive engineering achievement. But the design is at best polarizing. It's a collection of lines, creases, doo-dads, a huge rear end and a giant mouth. There are those who will love that design approach and there are those that will be appalled.

Sorry, complete and utter bullshit. Polarizing at BEST???? You are out of your mind. To be polarizing it's usually a split, half love it and half hate it. The VAST majority love this car. There isn't a car made that everyone wouldn't change something, so perfection doesn't exist. I'm mixed about the rear end, but I'm buying one, it's not a deal breaker.

A poorly-bought C5 Z-car soured me on vettes for quite awhile. Then, maybe a week after the reveal, I watched the YouTube video and that was it boy; it was done, over, like when I met my wife, and there was nothing left but to check the portfolio and see what was ripe for the picking. The last car I lusted after in this way was a 1974 SD-455 Trans Am. I had a 69 Roadrunner at the time and they wanted that and another 4+ Gs. I was in high school and though employed, didn't have that kind of jing.

I will not make that error this time.

It's an EXTREMELY busy, frenetic, design. The rear end is huge. The front end is a huge gaping mouth. Lines and creases galore. And then aero stuff on top of it.

Do you deny that?

Ferrari is not. Lamborghini is not. Porsche is not.

Again.

You may love the chaos. Nothing wrong with that. More power to you.

Fortunately, taste varies. Wouldn't it be awful if we all liked the same gal? Imagine the line!

This is the umteenth time in various threads you have spewed this exact same crap. You hate the car, please go to some place that you are happy. You have changed no ones mind, we are fully aware of how you feel. Most of us are on the C8 forum to learn to explore the new car and learn about it. Some for curiosity and some because they are buying. I did notice in your reply you didn't mention any defense of your incorrect claim of polarizing AT BEST. It's because it's wrong and you can't admit being wrong.
