Interesting. I skipped the C6 because I thought it was uglier than the C5 FRC. And later, uglier than the C7 and C8.
To each his own.
Gads, you're so right! I thought the C5 FRC was the only Corvette able to give the '61-'62 C1 and "73-'77 C3 a run for their money as the ugliest Corvettes ever. There is no right or wrong here, just personal opinions.

Not too late for you to start either! As for the discussion, I haven’t liked any modern Corvette until the C7. In my opinion, it is still a relevant head turner. Anxious to see the C8 in person!
I thought he expressed his opinion quite politely, but that's JMO...
Looks are so subjective. The old guard complained about losing the round tail lights with the C7 but it didn’t really bother me since I didn’t carry that nostalgic baggage. For many, the debate on the C8 rear end continues. I will reserve judgement until I see the car myself. But it appears rather chunky in the pictures I have seen. I want to like it.....but not sure yet! If so, I will order one as well. If not, I will order a new 992.
I'm going to be 100% honest, the very first pic I saw of the C8 rear end I said it looks like a tree fell on a Camaro. It still isn't my favorite part of the car, but looking at it at different angles it's not a huge deterrent either. I'm still very excited about the car.
I used to have one of these things and you know where the targa went? SIDEWAYS over the frunk. Many ingenious solutions in this little gem. Rustproofing was not one of them...
And that is exactly the second new car I ever bought, the first being a '73 850 Spyder...both in Chrome Yellow. I was present when my '74 X1/9 arrived at the dealership on its transporter, and when they pulled it off the truck, there was rust all the way through the paint and into the driver's door skin along the top by the window trim, where a large paint bubble had burst. Flimsy parts all over the cars (both the 850 and X1/9), but not the engines! Wow...those engines would sing joyously while taking merciless beatings. To this day, that 850 was the most fun I ever had in a car...even more than in the X, if you can believe it. The X was absolutely more and a better car, but there was just something about that Spyder...
I think since the C2 the Corvette has had a certain look when it comes to proportions. Long snout, and short rear. The C8 is sure to change this proportion. May lose some people, and may gain others. I hope the standard C8 is not bland because GM sure has a way of making the "base" model look bland, almost unfinished, unfortunately.

My first car was an X1/9. Great when it ran. I remember ruining my gfs new shoes once when the battery acid ate through it's placeholder and on to her shoes in the footwell!
I've seen a Co. that's putting Honda V-tec engines in them and they scream.
The concept and basic design of the C8 is good, but the design looks more like they had more than one designer wanting to add their own style. Too many lines and hills and valleys on this car makes it look like a Kit Car. Take the front hood, how many vertical lines do you need? Smooth it out more. The tail end is the worst, it looks like some aftermarket crap that 5 different designers had a go at it. Smooth it out a little. Look at the Ferrari and Lamborghini, they don't need all of those extra lines and designs to make their cars look good and aerodynamic. Keep it simple and don't overdo it and try to add too much design to an already good looking canvas to start with. I am looking forward to the 2021 or 2022 to see if it might look better. [/QUOTE]
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
