I agree, the black car that soon qualifies for antique vehicle plates is quite disproportionate. The hood is way too long and doesn't go with the back end. Then there's the tacked on rear brake air intake. The *** end is way too tall from the bottom of the bumper to the top, why is it so tall, not much back there underneath it. Thank God for the new car, I have been passing on these for 20 years, now they finally made one I will buy.

Even more boring, it's a C6. Oh and don't forget the high end Pontiac G6 secretary car steering wheel!

The black Z06 is better looking. Technology doesn't necessarily go hand in hand with looks.

Good catch. I still can't believe GM designed 2 unremarkable cars like that in a row. Glad they hired fresh designers for this one.

What will happen over time is the previous generations will just look dated. That doesn't mean they become ugly, just dated. It happens to everything. I still think the best looking late model Mustang was the S197 from 2005-2009. Everyone has moved on though, those cars are still out there, but the numbers shrink every day. People will own Corvettes from 53 to current, but life is dynamic and is ever changing. The more you see the new car the more "that's what a Corvette looks like" it will become.

True about the rustproofing but boy was it fun to drive.

Couldn't agree more, though I'd have to add that the C6 was a shockingly thorough improvement on the bfing-ugly C5...the individual changes were rather subtle, but wow, what an improvement! The C6 was everything that the C5 should have been from the get-go.

You're right, it's not. And he explained exactly why in his article. He wanted to like the C8...he was rooting for it to succeed, but unfortunately, even at 84 years old his eyes are still working just fine. Or, at least they were until he looked at the C8. I know mine are still sore from the reveal.

They went with round because square would not have been visually jarring enough. Apparently, they wanted this design to rip your eyes from their sockets, and a square filler door would have detracted from that goal. That's my guess, anyway.

Yes, and they were right back then, too. It was going from handsom (C6) to garrish (C7), which was just as unsettling as the current situation, where we're going from bad (C7) to worse (C8). So, yeah...they did have a good point then, too. Thanks for the reminder.

Why don't all the C8 guys go to the C7/C6/C5 forums and posts "It's Ugly" threads there. I just don't understand the need for other generation owners to berate the looks of other generations. Childish behavior.

Interesting. I skipped the C6 because I thought it was uglier than the C5 FRC. And later, uglier than the C7 and C8.
To each his own.

Funny how someone that spouts the philosophy “to each his own” is so argumentative when someone’s opinion doesn’t match yours. However, I agree that’s how it should be for everyone! Not too late for you to start either! As for the discussion, I haven’t liked any modern Corvette until the C7. In my opinion, it is still a relevant head turner. Anxious to see the C8 in person!

I would say that that matches my current assessment as well. I am hoping I will like the styling better once I see it in person.

The back end of a C7 has been a deal breaker for me since it came out, just wouldn't buy one, the C8 is being ordered.

Sorry, not a die hard Corvette fan. I'm here for the C8.

Previous models that I could afford new just have had no appeal to me.

That being said, I don't find any of them objectively ugly...just unremarkable*.

Looks are so subjective. The old guard complained about losing the round tail lights with the C7 but it didn’t really bother me since I didn’t carry that nostalgic baggage. For many, the debate on the C8 rear end continues. I will reserve judgement until I see the car myself. But it appears rather chunky in the pictures I have seen. I want to like it.....but not sure yet! If so, I will order one as well. If not, I will order a new 992.

I prefer the long hood, short rear deck, round lights.

To each their own!
