this is my original using the C8R scoop... which may be close after all.

The upper door "triangle" would do little to change any aero effect IMO. I think Shaka agreed a while back but not sure. Not sure about the "pointy" V vs rounded, but many cars out there with different shapes. I am sure it wont be as pronounced as this early render but can not imaging GM going forward without extensive testing for optimum shape.

I drove a '66 Stingray across the country once with no brakes and two cardboard fenders taped on in much that fashion. And no. I don't want to do it again.

That Stingray is now up for sale as Bloomington Gold, but sadly lacking the details of your trip, of course.

Sorry FVS, I should have known that. I guess Shaka played with the winglet.
Good stuff either way-

No prob. Shaka has posted how he played with it. He did a whole airflow analysis about it... Said the scoop had to be like the white version. I just don't think adding the triangle door handle changes the aero much if at all. GM may be trying to make the scoop very distinctive and different. Just wanted to show the original which I think ...as far as the scoop goes is looking to be close to the c8R after all but not as pronounced or huge!

I don't mind people trying their hand at the concepts with my renders, all for fun..

it has an f-18 duct. The duct is inside the viper vent, and ends halfway down. Below that, I'm not sure if they have another duct, or if they leave the bottom half plain.

I'm not sure why I did not realize this sooner. The f18 duct will be carbon flash or carbon fiber, and the car will be painted. A person's hand goes into the gap between the f18 duct and the under side of a block triangle shape. The door handle button is on the underside of the block triangle shape.

If you are wondering how the front point of the f18 duct attaches to the door, I thought about it for a while, and it most likely curls around the back side of the door seam, and is bolted on back there, as well as snaps into place up under the triangle at its front. Take the bolts out of the back side of the door, and then the piece is free to slide backward off the seam, and the front part probably slides out of a hole, and is only secured by its shape, when the bolts are keeping the piece from being able to slide toward the rear of the car.

The cool thing is this piece will probably have aftermarket renditions, and it will change the style of one car to the next just by swapping this duct piece.

Take the pic of the open door posted in Chaz's thread, add the "Viper" scoop, plus your write-up, above, and this render is on the right track, I think. That's not a very positive maybe...

Good luck,

Mike

You guys are certainly clearing this subject up! There is almost positively no doubt that we don’t know squat about how this scoop will be executed.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the c8R scoop area will be very similar. It has been main scoop intake plus the lower brake cooling intake.

Maybe only the outer shape will be tweaked for the streetcar. Maybe more rounded than the strong V-shape on the racecar

Yup, we've got it down to 8 or10 thousand possibilities, with a good solid 6 weeks to sort it out. The smart money's on Mary, she's sure to have some idea what the heck is under all that tom-foolery. I'll text her and ask for a tiny hint...
