Heck..... with some Bondo and duct tape, I suspect there are a few dealerships that would love to claim that car--only to advertise it as the "first C8 Corvette offered for public sale"....... (Hey..... just kidding....!
Well, it looks like Insurance Rates for the C-8 are already going up. LOL
GM vehicle self-insured, I think. Loss of a C8 is a big deal to an individual. It's not even a blip to an auto manufacturer.
(I once saw two full car haulers of new Chrysler minivans crunched in an ice storm accident. Chrysler engineer relative said that they would all go to the crusher as not repairable and too big a liability if someone tried to rebuild them.)
As a guess and strictly a guess based on where the cars are positioned, it would appear that swinging wide out of a turn (c8) rather than cutting a turn short (SUV) would be the likely cause. Dunno, but twisty roads, sports car, a little too much speed.....................If I had to bet.
My take on it also looking at how the cars are positioned.....agree the vette may have taken the turn wide cause just maybe going to fast or was pickin his/her nose .... distracted
Most likely that C8 would have been crushed any way as its a pre-production development car.... certainly not the way you would want it to go down..but its better than a customer just taking delivery and getting crashed.
From the look of that hit ..right at the side radiator..... Im surprised there is no coolant trail flowing down the road.......
The accident occurred on CA Route 120 between Moccasin and Groveland. Here's the video.........
Save The Wave, Corvette_Nut
I don't see how anyone can watch the damage from that video and not blame the C8. The white SUV took the force of the initial high speed hit from the C8 and when some speed was scrubbed off the C8 hit the Ranger, with less speed thus less damage.
