I wonder is one of those clear windshield UV tints would help with this, or just religiously using a window shade would do it.
PS. I have a 3LT C6 and it has a vinyl dashboard that still looks new (the entire car looks new actually). Didn't only the 4LTs in the C6 get the leather dash?
Yes its was the 4LT that got the leather covered dash and YES a lot had problems with them. To quote UNDY some of us have been here a long time and have owned the previous generations of the Corvette. The Corvette is a GREAT car but far from perfect , and there have been lots of annoying quality issue and problems that should have been recalled and weren't. Anyone that thinks the C8 with all its unproven parts and tech is not going to have some teething problems has their head in the sand..
If you order a 2LT with the GT2 seats, the only difference is a few flaps of leather on the dash and doors and some microfiber upper trim.
Not worth the $3000 differential to me..
I think I agree. I’m going with 2lt and comp seats. This is mainly gonna be a track car, so even though 3lt may be marginally nicer, I don’t think it’s worth it.
It happened on the C6s , the C7s and now ?? the C8s. The point being there's a distinct "chance" of it happening, IMO enough to keep ME from a 3LT. If you're getting the 3LT you have nothing but well wishes from me that it doesn't happen. I wish it on no one here. Time will tell...
The leather on the dash of the C8 doesn't go all the way to the windshield. This may be a response to the problems in prior cars.
My ZR1 leather dash peeled and I changed the dash myself. Not my daily driver so I took my time, still a pain in the *** though. If it happens again I'll sell the car. Same with my 3LT C8, if it ever peels I'm getting rid of it. Hopefully I'll trade it on a Z06 before that happens.
That dipped is just too much color for me. The reflection on the glass would be annoying.
Agreed. I can even see the reflection of the BLACK dash in the windshield. I can't even imagine putting up with a dipped natural dash. Yikes!

The problem area on the 3LT C8 will be the big piece directly in front of the steering wheel from what I've gleaned from research. But I've only heard of a couple of instances of that thus far so hopefully those are the exception not the rule. It was still worth the risk for me since I didn't opt for Z51. I really like the micro fiber on the A-pillars, roof, and behind the seats as well as the airbag cover on the steering wheel (even though I realize the airbag cover can be done aftermarket).

Well 2LT has plastic steering wheel horn and 3LT has leather...its not just a few flap of leather. Also, the 3LT has the red leather on the lower dash and glovebox. 2LT is black under dash even if ordering red interior. 2LT's dont take this the wrong way but the horn and basic cloth make the 80k+ C8 look like an entry level car,

hahahahaha SECLT2201 don’t worry, no one on here would take it the wrong way from a no class stranger on the internet talking out his ***.

Not sure about talking out of my ***? I have a 3LT sitting in the garage right now and just smile every time I get inside. The suede upper is luxurious and butter smooth leather interior. Now if i was buying track car the 1LT or 2LT would be my choice.

Yet another example proving the adage that money doesn't buy class. Or, apparently, friends, as you're sitting alone in your garage stroking your...dash...and posting pictures of it on the internet.

I agree with you..........to a point. I don't think the 2LT interior makes it look like any entry level car I have ever seen, as it's pretty awesome, and so far above anything Corvette has done before. I have the red/black two-tone interior also, and I went back and forth from 2LT to 3LT and settled on 2LT. I then met up with a fellow forum member who has a 3LT and then it hit me. I just didn't realize that 3LT would have given me the red lower dash and glove box as you mention, and also, now that I have seen that very nice leather-stitched horn/airbag cover on the wheel in person, every time I look down at my plastic cover, I get pretty steamed at myself for not getting the 3LT.....I really thought I was closely looking at the option differences, but I missed that. The 3LT also has some very attractive stitching work on the targa roof liner of the coupe. That's not a big deal to me since mine wears the transparent top all the time now. I did not care about getting a dipped interior, or having the option to get suede pieces, so I threw off the idea of the 3LT, but there are certainly numerous special touches, some of which you mention, that are worth the price difference in my opinion, in some cases
I was going to get the GT2 seat upgrade in my 2LT anyway, so moving to the 3LT option (where the GT2 seats are standard, of course) did not involve that much of a realized price increase. It's the only thing in my C8 build I would have done differently if I could.
I read somewhere that the leather horn cover can be acquired for around $500 or so and I might look into that. It drives me nuts now that I have seen the 3LT alternative!

Yes, I'm not talking about overall design of all level interiors. They are all the same design...my point was exactly what you found out about the horn cover. I couldn't justify spending 85k on a car and having a plastic horn i had to look at every time I drove the car. I've had BMW, Audi and Infiniti and the C8 3LT interior is superior to any of those cars i've owned. now none of those where 80K cars though.
Lastly yes the 3LT horn is closer $600 and is an easy upgrade.

Man you really have a problem with me or maybe you wanted a 3LT...trying to degrade other forum members as "sitting alone in your garage stroking your...dash". I don't need friends like that!
We are all C8 owners and everyone has different priorities in the options and car specs they want. My only point was to let people know my experience. non 3LT will have cloth pillars, headliner, plastic horn cover and plasic on other panels, like any other car from 20k+.
Dont worry I have a few C8 friends that get together.

Ordered my 2020 with 3LT interior. Two reasons. 1) We are road trippers and wanted most comfortable, best appointed interior available.
2). Morello Red only available in 3LT package.
Car was delivered to us in November of 2020.
Have had the car for over a year and put over 10,000 miles on it, enjoying the 3LT interior. AND the front lift.
Seventh Corvette; none had the highest level interior trim until my 2015 with 3LT Kalahari interior. 2015 and 2022 were the only ones ‘ordered;’ others were dealer stock.
Will never have another without the highest level interior. Period. There is a noticeable difference in materials, and there are more color/trim options.
BTW, had my 2015 convertible for more than six (6) years. Interior looked good as new when I sold it.
