Default Entry, exit issues

The Real issue is not the garage, how low it is ,etc. I posted on another thread, that I have sat in the C8, checked out the 3 indents, took some measurements, determining how open the door needs to be for an average sized person, The conclusion IMO, was that if another vehicle parks next to you, 30 inches away or less, You are not getting IN or OUT! That's 2 1/5 Feet.

What is with all of these "getting into and out of the C8" threads? Just like any car, park accordingly and pay attention to your doors. End of story.

OK, 2 Things, 1 - the door at its apex is 12 inches thick, combined with 2, the door hinge on the C8 is about 2 inches forward, of where the C7,s is, this is where the door pivots on, combined IMO, after sitting in the car, taking some measurements, checking how open the door needs to be for me to exit realistically, [5/8" 180 pds] the door will have to be open more than 30 ", Hence if someone was to park next to you 30" or less from your door, You are not getting in Your C8, until they return to move their vehicle, IMHO

As we all know there is a lot of contortions of your body getting in and out of a low car. On the C7 you may also have a rocker extension you have to clear with your feet (not sure about the C8 clearances). Corvette doors tend to have a good bit of pointed extension when opening far enough to get in and out. They can be a problem as a daily driver. I see why the autodrive type feature of the Tesla could be a useful thing in tight parking. Maybe just jump in a rolled down window.

BINGO! I get to work early everyday and park in the exact same spot, at the end of the row....If I'm out in town....I park where no one else is or at the end of the row. is it a PINA at times? yes....but that is the price we pay for having the baddest car on the block....bar none!

It seems many should be buying Jeeps or Volkswagon “Things” that you can remove the doors from, eliminating the need to “open” the doors.

I sat in the one that circulated around ny and had no problem getting in or out with the door only opened half way. Didn’t even notice anything different from my C7. The woman before me in her late 50s and average to fair shape got out just fine prior to me getting in. In fact I offered her a hand and she gave me the evil eye....lol

What some people are failing to realize is that it's not just about parking in a parking lot. It's also about garage space. Some garages aren't accommodating in space leaving very little room to open doors. For me I have my Vette in the middle to give max space but my 280z on the left has maybe a foot of clearance to open the door. I have to have a cushion nailed to the wall to make sure I don't hit the door when I squeeze in. Luckily the 280z doors are short compared to the Vette. My 300zx on the right has the passenger side almost up against the wall. Now my previous house with a over sized 4 car garage was no problem, unfortunately my current house wasn't so lucky in garage dimensions. So when people complain about the doors and in/out aspect of the C8 realize that it's not just one scenario.

Would the next person who is at a reveal event, take a tape measure and measure from the side of the car to the tip of the fang on the door with the door fully open so we can compare it to the C7?

Same here. Didn't see any reason to open the door further than any other car I get into. I guess the door edge will cause some loss of room in a tight garage, but it's hard to compare since the entry angle isn't known.

I'm 6/1, now weigh 175 Lbs, 36" waistline / was 6/1 an weighed 232Lbs, 40" at belt-line, waistline. at least 2.0" of overhang,

Car, C2/C3 Coupe. Door full open, use the 60s/70s era women's "How to get in an out of a car in Mini skirt without showing your panties method." Swing both legs, held together out of car, lean FWD and stand up, or to get in, turn with back to car, an Fall back into seat, lift both legs at the same time and swing them inside car.

Fast Fwd 50 years, C2, Legs Shot, not enough strength in legs to stand straight up. Tight parking place, turn facing body toward door, swing one leg out, twist and pull the other leg out, Pull both legs together, place left hand on door sill, "Grunt and push yourself up.", then squeeze out. To Get in, Squeeze in, turn back to car, lean fwd enough for your head to clear window and top, squat/"fall in my case", into seat, turn and put one leg in at a time.

Waistline reduction helps with preforming the above procedures. Not fat shaming! I was the fat kid in school, now I'm the Skinny guy at our reunions...LOL

Because any other door ends basically at the rubber seal...on the C8 it extends dramatically... THATS WHY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
