hi all, been hashing over getting c8 next year or when available. but started thinking about a couple of things,1 in the c7 you can just reach back and grab something from the back..
I haven't missed that on my cars where I couldn't do it.
As far as a C7 versus C8, one can purchase a C7 Z06 for about the same price as a C8, and it will outperform the current C8 in most ways, with the exception of 0-60, and maybe the drool factor. I'm pretty sure I've decided to hang on to my C7 Z06 for a while longer.
I been having second thoughts about a C8 for the reasons the OP mentioned. If Chevy offers the ZL1 with the dual clutch trans its a good alternative.
Also been thinking about a 2020 Shelby GT500. But like the C8, the hype needs to die down for the price to be reasonable...…….that is not above MSRP.
But dogs in either car? NEVER.

How important is a MT to you? If you value a MT, go with a C7. Also, wait until next year when the C8s start arriving at dealerships. I imagine that GM will offer the dealers significant rebates to move C7s off dealers' lots. The C7 always offered an incredible bang for the buck. In 2020 it will even get better. If you live in the northeast, wait until there's a few inches of snow on the ground in late January. Then make your offer.

The C8 has so many inherent automotive AND design deficiencies , versus the C7 ♡, I'm amazed at all the C8 apologists n h8ters out here?? As if their feelings are hurt.
This just in from an intercepted communication at STUPID (Society To Undermine Performance Intended Devices) headquarters.
Chief Negativity Officer and President of STUPID, Skid Row Joe calls meeting to order.
Joe demands a weekly update on the bashing and attempted reversal of C8 orders placed by excited buyers.
On the home front, new member GrandSport has started multiple threads attempting to nit pick and find fault where it doesn’t exist. His latest thread concerning the tail lights has received surprising resistance from the C8 buyers. (or fan boys as we call them in a childish attempt to quell their enthusiasm) Even the President of STUPID joined in with a weak salvo trying to now compare the back end to a Lumina. So far he has used Cruze, Malibu, and now Lumina. We are working frantically to come up with additional Chevy cars that also have tail lights for our supreme leader to use.
Joe asks for status on the German Car Eastern front. They are happy to report that Dr. Ice appears to be holding his own quite nicely. When hit with the question of why would someone buy a car shaped like a potato with a VW Beetle front end for over twice the price with no performance gain, Dr.Ice gives replies that are so verbose and long winded, that even the most ardent C8 fan quits reading them before they end. This seems to be a fairly successful tactic and he continues to employ this with every reply.
Next Joe seeks styling bashing report and is slightly disappointed in IronV as his incessant rambling of the exact same opinion is falling on deaf ears.
Not to be deterred, Joe vows to continue his useless attempts at proving that once and for all the C8 CAN’T be the success that it is and he will keep up the good fight.
LATE NEWS FLASH: GrandSport oversteps bounds gets thread locked, more at 10:00.

SRJ, I am not a homer and a big Euro car guy who has owned 4 Corvettes. The latest Two were a C7 Z51 & Z06.
I live in N Texas and decided to view the car on Thursday in Longview, that same car is at Classic Grapevine today. At Classic their is over a 2 hour wait all day today with over 4000 reservations to see the car. I spent about 3 plus hours in Longview and was able to look at every angle of the car and was able to sit in the driver and passenger seats 15 plus times. It’s not perfect, but when comparing the interior quality and the overall outer presence compared to the C7, the C8 is much better even better than my 2015 Z06. They had a few GS, and Z06 on the show room floor and I would jump in and out of the C7 then jump back in the C8. The C8 hands down on exterior and interior look so much better in person. How it drives no comments that is still up in the air for me until I get the chance to drive one.

Your assessment of the C8 doesn't begin to address the automotive AND design deficiencies as others are not in agreement with yours. Seeing and sitting in the car is a personal decision. Nothing else....
This place....
Just like the C7 intro, where C6 guys by the dozens, trolled the C7 soon to be owners. Now, 6 years later, we have C7 owners trolling C8 soon to be owners. Didn't understand it then, Don't understand it now. I mean, there IS a very active C7 sub-forum here. If I still had my C7, that is certainly be where I would spend my time...instead of stating my opinion over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over (you get the idea). I guess I'm weird....I've never gained any joy or satisfaction telling people that they're wrong for choosing this car (or any car). Just seems like a dick move.

Everyone has a reason for buying any car. Do what you think is right and don't worry about no name forum members and what they think.
Good luck

Since you've DRIVEN the C8 Joe, what are these AUTOMOTIVE and DESIGN deficiencies?
And DON'T you dare quote magazines....I want YOUR personal experiences.
Oh wait, you HAVEN'T driven one. So you are JUST like the TROLLS from 2013....
Maybe you and your namesake, JoesC5 (famous C7 troll) should get together. You 2 could whine about TWO generations of Corvettes (oh wait, that won't work, JoesC5 HATES the C7)
Wasting your time Jimmy, there is a village in Texas that's missing its idiot.
I know. I just don't GET IT....A new car, for a lot of people (like me) is one of THE coolest things ever. Why rain on the parade, Joe? Does it make you feel better, bigger, smarter, more handsome?
Now, in the end, I will get my C8 convertible. And I'll enjoy it. Just like I did my C7 convertible....and my 2 C6 convertibles....and my 2 C5 convertibles. And what I'll NEVER do is troll those car's owners because I have the newest car. Don't like the way the C8 looks? Great, don't buy one. And say it ONCE. Standing in judgement on a car you haven't even DRIVEN is the same as all these DB's that rag on the 911. The sad thing is they don't realize how absolutely IGNORANT it shows them to be.
Some get trolled for pretending they were gonna get one but come up with rediculous reasons they couldnt..like my horse wouldnt fit back there guess Ill keep my old Ranger. Really I was this close!!
^^^^^
Indeed. When the C6 ZR1 came out, there were tons of posts like "I'll never pay $115K for a Corvette...I'll wait till they're 5% off". Then it was: "I'll wait till they're 10% off". and then it was....you get the idea. Reality was they were NEVER buyers in the first place.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
