I can't believe that your build is identical to mine, right down to the mud flaps. I think great mines think alike!
Could the link be giving me my build ?

OK guys (and gals). I'm really undecided on this.
I'll be 75 in a couple of weeks, My health is marginal, at best, and if I live another 10 years it'll be a miracle. I've have an incurable disease of the lungs called 'pulmonary arterial hypertension, which puts a heavy load on my heart. I've owned a Corvette for most of my adult life, starting with a 1964 roadster. I currently have a C-5 and a C-7. I love the look (and the reviews) of the C-8. I can easily afford whatever one I want, on a cash basis. My choice would likely be a vert, Z51. I know you only go around once in life, and I should enjoy what I can, while I can. I've been married over 50 years, and my wife would probably not be in favor of my getting another Vette, but she'd get over it.
Should I go for it, or use good sense, and just enjoy what I already have?
do it.
My now 92 year old uncle wanted a new Big Benz when he was 89 He told me what he wanted to spend per month and I negotiated a 3 year lease on an S class amg. He enjoyed the hell out of that thing, drove it to Boston for his great great niece’s wedding from St. Louis . He Took it on a other road trips Dinged up every fender and curbed the wheels numerous times. Got it fixed before I turned it in. He is no longer driving due to poor eyesight.
You might think about a lease then you can turn it in for a c8z06— lease that and turn it in for a c8zr1. If my uncle liked American sports cars and still had good eyesight I am sure that’s what my uncle would do.— it’s interesting that my dad his 90 year old baby brother couldn’t care less about cars. Dad’s hobby is shopping at Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s and cooking healthy.

If you can afford the car, go and order it. I actually hope your name is on a list somewhere already. I'm 68 and a total car guy. I love cars so much I became a car dealer, got an opportunity after 15 years in the business to be a minority partner. I'm blessed because at the moment I'm healthy, I just retired for the second time and I am finally enjoying myself. I have my toy box (4 cars) I call it and I try to buy in my budget for my toys. I'm married over 40 years and my wife understands me too. I got on a list for the C8 back in July right after the reveal. I also have gone back and forth should I or shouldn't I go through with my order. sold my 61 two top non matching number Roman Red Corvette for 46k, I'm selling my supercharged 39 Ford Hot Rod Coupe and that will pay for my C8.
i still have my 67 427/400 matching number 4 speed coupe in Marina blue and don't get upset, my 89 Porsche 911 black coupe. I have owned 26 Corvettes over the years almost every generation except C7's.
If you want to talk please PM me.
all the best to you!
Save the wave
To Schuyler
So sorry for your loss. I know too well We lost our oldest son 11 years ago he loved cars he was 24 and my middle son 4 years ago he was 30.
my faith keeps my hope strong I hope your the same.
Go for it! And load it up with everything you want!
I am 69 and have cancer with a 2-4 year life expectancy with 1-3 of that a decent quality of life. I went for it and ordered an absolutely loaded Magetic Red Metallic Tintcoat Coupe with carbon fibre everything. TPW 3/16...taking it on big road trip in May. Exciting fun! No Guilt. Keeping my 1381rwhp C6 for the adrenaline at the standing Mile and 1/2 mile events.

Asking a bunch of guys who own and/or love Corvettes if you should buy a Corvette ... HAHA! YEP, DO IT! You won't be around to regret it anyway
I'm not far behind you in age. With my nest being sufficiently "feathered", and no concerns for my wife's well being when I pass-on, my thought process on my purchases are as follows: When I'm on my deathbed, will I look back on the decision as "Boy, am I glad I didn't get that corvette (or whatever) and saved that money", or will I regret not getting it?. Oftentimes my decision can go either way when I really ruminate on whatever it is I am thinking of buying. Some are passing fancies while others are an absolute "gotta-haves". You'll know where you fit in that scenario.
I put down money today. I won't know for awhile about when I'll get the order actually done. DEALER SAYS HE HAD (?) 50 allocated, 12 have had their orders accepted and there are about 20 ahead of me on his list.

Great story!! Your Uncle sounds like quite the guy, your Dad too. My Dad just passed he was 98. These older gentlemen are great to talk to and be around! I am glad I had many good times with my Dad over the years. There will never be another generation like them!

I've read all the posts here and can relate to almost all of them. I green lighted the OP days ago. What I'm realizing in a related way now is what it feels like to not be qualified to buy something you really want, can afford, but are unable to buy. I just became aware of the new Ford GT a few months ago. Through a couple members here that have bought new ones I became aware of how next to impossible it is to be selected to buy a new one. This put into perspective just how fortunate buyers of new Corvettes really are. It's a slamdunk, buying a new one. No one of means and desire should ever delay a new Corvette purchase. No one.....
Joe, my local dealer ( and club sponsor) Reeder Chevrolet Knoxville TN is working with me. I've purchased several cars from them over the years. FWIW. our local club (East Tennessee Corvette Club) is the largest in the country. (over 400 members) and I have been club president a couple of times. They are a great club sponsor, as they support the club, and the club supports them. There were 8 Vettes on the showroom floor yesterday, everything from a 1954 to a C-7 Z06.
Great decision! At 75 I am getting a C8, with my wife's blessing, and keeping my other sport cars as well. I anticipate the contrast between the C8 and the other cars will be great fun to enjoy as they are so different in style and construction.
