Have you ever worked in the car business? Most dealerships' "detail shops" are a teenager with a dirty rag. If they sell real detailing packages they outsource them to local detailers. Even when I worked at a Porsche dealer the "prep area" would make any car guy cringe. Now they've gotten smart and send the fancy ones to a local top tier detailer for a "new car preservation package".
I’ve got over 40 years of detailing experience with my own cars which is longer than most pro detailers have been alive. I have a good buddy in the business to boot with any specific info I need in detailing my cars. But, you were discussing retailers, not detailers.
Detail department called me to look at Torch Red being cleaned for delivery. Pointed out water spots that are on both sides of engine dept. Tried everything and not able to eliminate. I am sure that there will be some owners that will not be happy with looking at them when you open the engine department. Have any of you experienced this yet?
Received 2 C8's yesterday and two more this morning.
I see your in Stuart, I have some plastic polish and I'm located in Palm City, feel free to contact me and try it. I also have some black trim sealer that might help. Also we are lucky enough to have Autogeek and Mckee 37 literally around the corner, bring it to Mckee 37 they would probably love to see the car and lend a helping hand.

I think the point is being missed in that a new vehicle should not have panels looking like they are old used pieces. Agree back to black works good but it does not fix everything so don’t know if it’s going to work on those panels. Between dealer calling and pics it seems ugly.
I agree and also note that the back to black is not a permanent fix you have to apply often to keep it looking good.
All that fancy crap might work . I don't know but 2 things that will work. First, wash them off with a little car wash with a half cup of white vinegar in it. Dry it off and then apply some tire black. Any brand will work like Mcguires or Magic or whatever. Problem solved! Been there and done this many times.
Could be either one, with water redistributing a release agent remaining on the plastic.
AFAIK the tub material for the C7/C8 is a hybrid carbon/fibergalss composite. The top of the inner fenders on my C7 under the hood weren't perfect now that I think about it.
A weak acid like vinegar or CLR will dissolve the minerals.
I agree. When I get mine back for Xpel today, I'll try that. Then spray a little Lemon Pledge on it. Had good results with that stuff on black plastic parts.
