Use Vinyl prep found at many Auto paint stores. It cleans plastic to prepare for painting of vinyl.

Good idea... FWIW it's not plastic. It's the tub which is a fiber/carbon composite now.

I’ve got over 40 years of detailing experience with my own cars which is longer than most pro detailers have been alive. I have a good buddy in the business to boot with any specific info I need in detailing my cars. But, you were discussing retailers, not detailers.

Why spend more than you have to?

Spend more time driving and less time marveling at the engine surround. This bit of vehicle anxiety is just not worth the stress.

Received 2 C8's yesterday and two more this morning.
I see your in Stuart, I have some plastic polish and I'm located in Palm City, feel free to contact me and try it. I also have some black trim sealer that might help. Also we are lucky enough to have Autogeek and Mckee 37 literally around the corner, bring it to Mckee 37 they would probably love to see the car and lend a helping hand.

I think that "retailer" was a typo.

If you won't clean it your self
find a professional detailer.
This is not a problem.

Most dealer detailers are wash
and (kind of) wax men. They are
"detailing" your vette and SUV's
and Pickup's etc..Don't expect to much.

Your "detail dept" needs some serious re-training if they can't remove those spots.

Even an educated novice can clean that up.

I agree and also note that the back to black is not a permanent fix you have to apply often to keep it looking good.

All that fancy crap might work . I don't know but 2 things that will work. First, wash them off with a little car wash with a half cup of white vinegar in it. Dry it off and then apply some tire black. Any brand will work like Mcguires or Magic or whatever. Problem solved! Been there and done this many times.

Could it be from the release agent on the fiberglass mold?

No... it’s hard water spots. That’s where the hatch vents drain.

You are going to get these spots every time you drive in the rain. Learn to live with it.

Not if you clean it up and ceramic coat it.

Could be either one, with water redistributing a release agent remaining on the plastic.

AFAIK the tub material for the C7/C8 is a hybrid carbon/fibergalss composite. The top of the inner fenders on my C7 under the hood weren't perfect now that I think about it.

I agree. When I get mine back for Xpel today, I'll try that. Then spray a little Lemon Pledge on it. Had good results with that stuff on black plastic parts.
