looks can be deceiving. His car doesn't run 12s lol
10s are just respectable nowadays. Blame the electrics. Blame the RS3s. Different parts of the country maybe 11s are quick but they're laughable here. I wish they weren't or I would be happy with saving a **** ton of cash on a base corvette. But there's jeeps rinning low 11s off showroom floor now.
A street driven car with an 11 second quarter mile ET is "laughable" in your world. What world is that?
Yeah people need to keep perspective. In the end it's still HP/TQ limited and although they improved the traction for launching (mid engine) and they have optimized the gearing for 0-60, there are limitations.
It will be very interesting to see what they do with the Z06. Lot's of rumors but if the car is an NA flat plane crank V8, it's very possible the C8 Z06 will have less horsepower /tq than the C7 Z06. But with the mid engine design it may be a really good fit and provide for a much better visceral experience. I personally would love a fpc NA V8 that makes around 600hp and has an 8000+ rpm redline. That car would be so fun to drive and a real screamer.
I agree. No reason a 5.5L FPC DOHC 4V motor based upon the C8R motor cannot be a big HP engine. It all depends on the rev limits. (The C8R motor is severely limited in HP by IMSA air inlet restrictions.)
HP equals Torque x RPM/5252
If the 5.5L motor has 400 lb/ft of torque (or about what a 5.7L LS6 C5Z had), and an 8500 rpm redline, then:
400 x 8500/5252 equals about 647 horsepower, or approximately what a C7Z has. 9000 rpm will equal about 685.
Smaller but higher revving motors can pump out the HP--just like they do in Formula 1.

That's pretty cool and everything....until you factor in a dose of reality. Things like emissions testing, engine longevity/warranty issues, vibration issues that come with larger FPC engines, fuel mileage...silly things like that. Two significant points regarding Formula 1 engines- they inherently have very short lives due to their design, and- they're turbocharged.
Same process and result. Also waiting for Z06 and on list.
While at it, does anyone know where the hazard lights switch is located. After 500 miles and looking everywhere, in the car, manual, and putting "where is it located on google", I still don't have a clue - go ahead and laugh.

I found it in the owners manual on page 128.
RTFM.

Reason: highlighted location
Oh, you mean a track with no corners.....ok, that makes a little more sense. But in reality, on a road course and only considering stock vehicles (I can make my washing machine go sub 11's with enough money), I think the only cars that I've ever tracked with that could go sub 11's in the 1/4 mile on a prepped track was either the McLaren 720 or a Porsche 911 Turbo S. I honestly can't think of any other stock vehicles I've shared the track with that could dip into the 10's stock.
lol my 570S runs 10.5's @136mph on the street spinning on garbage PZeros. Stock.
I'm looking forward to better times with better tires.
I disagree. My ZR1 will handily outrun it. Maybe not from a dig, but it'll get passed up pretty quick.
Yours is just a faster rocket...
We’re in the middle of a horsepower war. Which is fun. But, 10 years ago a C6 Z06 was, except for finicky and very pricy supercars, the quickest thing you could get! Today, a C8 kills it off the line and is not very much slower 60-100. That Z06 is still a rocket in my eyes and so is the C8.
