I like everything about my C8 except that I can not wait for the Z06 with more HP. Yes I know that this is the base Corvette and it does pretty good with the 500HP and 470TQ but the thrill of 700 HP and about 580TQ is what I am waiting for. MY Ferrari F12 has 730HP and is brutal on acceleration. My Huracan was also a monster with 620HP and AWD. That car was like being on an Amusement park ride when you got into it. I test drove the Ferrari F8 Tributo and with 710HP and a light weight that car can fly. In the end thought I prefer the C8. It does so many thing so well. Just needs a little more go juice and with the upcoming Z06 rumored to have about 800Hp I cant wait. Too bad that it appears that the Z06 will be delayed until late next year but I'm already on the list. Anyone else getting one?

Yes, I plan to get the Z06 but I'm still waiting for my C8. All I have is a serial number. My car's build was starting the day the plant closed. I plan to drive it for a couple of years and then get the Z. I have always had Z06's. The C8 feels quick, my C7 Z06 with a few bolt ons felt ferocious. It's all good. The base car is a terrific car. The Z06 will be more so.
Looking forward to seeing what the Z06 version becomes. Should be a hoot. Glad you enjoy your C8 despite being down on horsepower compared to other cars you've driven....but the question is...., is the acceleration actually weak, or just not as strong as the other vehicles in your experience?
Yeah people need to keep perspective. In the end it's still HP/TQ limited and although they improved the traction for launching (mid engine) and they have optimized the gearing for 0-60, there are limitations.
It will be very interesting to see what they do with the Z06. Lot's of rumors but if the car is an NA flat plane crank V8, it's very possible the C8 Z06 will have less horsepower /tq than the C7 Z06. But with the mid engine design it may be a really good fit and provide for a much better visceral experience. I personally would love a fpc NA V8 that makes around 600hp and has an 8000+ rpm redline. That car would be so fun to drive and a real screamer.
Count on the Z06 to have 690-730hp. Not 800 for sure.
However your point about the Stingray being slow is definitely correct. Its quick from a stop, but above 50mph is fairly pedestrian. Not anything to write home about if you are used to more powerful cars. I didn't feel like taking the depreciation hit on the Stingray before getting the Z06 so I am waiting patiently for the Z to come out and put my name down on the list in January.
I bought my Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle back in 2003. Still puts a big smile on my face in 2020 whenever I hit the throttle. I'm good for a week during my monthly 175 mph speed runs on the back roads.
My C6 GS is pretty much all the power I need on the street. I've never been in a Z06, so I never known what I'm missing power wise. I was going to buy a friends 2011 ZR1, but because the roof doesn't come off, I passed on it. Never drove it either. Hard to imagine a C8 not being fast enough though.

It's all relative to what you are used to. There are many C8 owners coming from C7 Z06 or even ZR1. Or other exotics. No question the C8 is really quick off the line and the DCT has raised the level relative to it's HP/TQ, but if your coming from a high horsepower/high TQ car the C8 will feel a lot less dramatic. With the smooth shifting DCT and much refined interior I think part of the rawness and drama of previous generations (especially for manual owners) is gone.
A car can be very fast on paper but not feel as fast in real life if it is very refined and smooth. At least that's been my experience.
Part of it is reality and part of it is how the car was designed.
The C8 is a fast car from a dig to 60, but it's not a world beater from 60+. It's fast, but there are a number of cars out there under $100k that are faster from a roll.
There really shouldn't be a surprise that the car doesn't feel fast or raw. GM purposely designed the car to be smooth and quiet (relative to sports cars) so they can sell the car to a much wider range of customers. Sort of like, a dude that would've bought a Benz E-Class coupe may now consider the C8 because it rides like a luxury sedan. Tadge was so proud of the car being so smooth and quiet when he rode with Jay Leno. Jay was kind of like, "ahhh ok?".
There has been more than a few reviews that said the car doesn't feel fast even though it is doing 0-60 in under 3 secs and 11s in 1/4mi. Also, the reality is there are more and more cars out there that can do 0-60 in around 3s now. You have heavy luxury European sedans with twin turbos that are doing 3 secs give or take from the factory now and obviously a $60k Tesla can do 3 secs flat now too. We are just so used to speed now that nothing feels that fast anymore if the car is build to be smooth rider.
