Here was my comment. "Yes I know that this is the base Corvette and it does pretty good with the 500HP and 470TQ"
As you said just not as strong but still great especially at its price point. I prefer the C8 to my F12!!

The C8 isn’t slow. It’s just slower than what he has or is used to.

MY Ferrari F12 has 730HP and is brutal on acceleration. My Huracan was also a monster with 620HP and AWD. That car was like being on an Amusement park ride when you got into it. I test drove the Ferrari F8 Tributo and with 710HP and a light weight that car can fly. In the end thought I prefer the C8. It does so many thing so well. Just needs a little more go juice and with the upcoming Z06 rumored to have about 800Hp I cant wait. Too bad that it appears that the Z06 will be delayed until late next year but I'm already on the list. Anyone else getting one?

Why would one buy a C8 if you already have superior cars...then knock the inferior car for being...inferior?

Just curious.

Let me add that my 2010 Zr1 with a manual transmission and 638HP and 604 lbs/ft of TQ was scary fast. I would be happy with that kind of power and performance in the new Z06.

Read what I said. Not knocking it at all. I said I prefer the C8 over the F12! Would just like to have some more Hp. Waiting for the Z06!

If someone really thinks the C8 is somehow slow on acceleration (< 3 seconds to 60 is slow acceleration? Compare to what?), or weak up top, watch the vid that's floating around of the young man on a track. Not what I'd call weak or slow. Throw the price, engineering, etc. on top of that, IMO it's pretty amazing.

these things will be remedied two ways for people like the OP..

1. wait for the Z06

2. Tuning. once they crack the ECU - you'll be able to mod the car and once that happens the complaints about how the roll racing is the Achilles heel of the car when you compare it's stellar ZERO up acceleration.

the only issue i see with modding this base car will be the DCT. whose got the ***** to mess around with such an expensive unknown commodity vs just buying the C8Z?

Cracking ECU
tuning works WAY better on a turbo engine than naturally aspirated
example Porsche Panamera turbo simple ECU tunes gets you 100 HP more

Hopefully an MCE to dohc TT engine in base car or be it a GS in 4 or 5yrs would be ideal.

What a car that would be. Porsche got that part correct. Base engine with a tune makes it about as fast as a turbo model.

Hopefully Corvette follows suit

I love my C8, but come on... "I'll pass on a Ferrari F8 to get my C8 "... said no one ever.

people should not get so hung up on HP numbers. What if the car had 600 hp with the performance improvements that the ME design has offered AND weighed 3100-3200 pounds??

my guess is you have never been in a late model GT3RS. NA 500-520 hp.... and it is damn near perfect

horsepower isn’t everything.

Seeing the C8's on track performance they certainly aren't weak. Well driven they will be in the mix with the very fastest cars at any track event.

Weak is when I change gear in my ACR-E from the top of 4th into 5th and hardly anything happens.

My C8 will actually be for my wife, so I am not too concerned about the ~500HP. My 2010 ZR1 scares the crap out of her (~673rwhp on E85). That's why I will never get rid of it.

I wasn't aware the C8 was designed to be a dragster. I was under the impression the mid-engine design was to make the car more balanced to handle better around corners. There is a point where more HP is really not going help you go around corners any faster.
