The vertical doors of the Lamborghini and McLaren make ingress and egress a chiropractic maneuver unless you are the size of a Leprechaun. It is all about attention and the "look at me" crap.

You speak from experience with all the miles you've put on these cars?

As a matter of fact I do. I would bet that I have driven more Lamborghinis and Ferraris than you have. Never driven a McLaren and don't care because I think they look like something out of a cartoon.
Except it's always been the higher end models with them. They look cool and draw attention, who cares if someone puts them on their car. Gatekeepers are the worst. If you can't afford a quarter million dollar car then it's wrong to put the scissor doors on your own. People really need to come off it.

I dunno, my bet is the win/loss ratio about matches the loss/win ratio of the team that plays where the picture is set, and that's generous at about 40% positive. Not trying to be harsh, but if you can pull for IU football, you can rock faux Lambo doors. The wider world will just shake their heads in silence but mostly be polite and not say anything - just not me.
You know, I never considered them on any of my own cars but dont necessarily dislike them. With the new look of this car, they may actually look pretty cool. You KNEW the hate was gonna come at you here in the old folks farm because as you know, old men are well....old men. (Boring, grumpy, cynical, difficult etc...) God forbid anyone showing a video of a 650 HP Corvette driving over the speed limit. We've all seen it before and we will see it again unfortunately. Its your car, do what makes you happy and dont worry about the worthless opinions of these old guys here.
Just remember, while your out driving along a winding road or coastline (over the speed limit) with your wife or hot girlfriend, they will be driving to McDonalds to get coffee, then back home to take a nap and complain about the young guys on the Corvette Forum. LOL! Good luck with your doors and please POST a lot of pictures!

While I don't much like the look. Nor the idea. I'd be more concerned about the engineering of a complex parts assembly made by some guy in Poughkeepsie. Fit? How much stress testing was done? 1000 open/close cycles or one? I'd wager one is fewer than was done, but not by much.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
