Z, in fairness to ME, I was expecting the Nav SD card to appear slightly out like the PDR. It's not. It goes completely in out of view. Pic is of PDR SD card "fully" in.
The map updates are currently $160 regular price but you can usually catch them on sale for $100. Not worth it to me, I seldom use the in car navigation system. With CarPlay and Android Auto available, using your phone’s navigation is easier, more up to date and includes traffic. Waze is the best App as it also adds an additional layer of protection to your radar detector and warns of road hazards.
From the order guide, included on 2LT and 3LT:
Audio system, Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium system with connected Navigation, 8" diagonal HD color touchscreen, AM/FM stereo, Bluetooth audio streaming for 2 active devices, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capable, enhanced voice recognition, additional memory for in-vehicle apps, cloud connected personalization for select infotainment and vehicle settings. Subscription required for enhanced and connected services after trial period.

Agreed. That's why I didn't think that I ordered it. It reminds me of the 4 figure price for navigation cards in boats!
This!! I had a 3LT 2014 and now a 2017 with NAV, the update is applied through a USB that you have to purchase. I don't believe that any modern NAV systems use SD cards or any other media anymore, all memory is internal.
Ford, GM, Mercedes, Toyota, and several others also use SD cards for Navigation, and require that they not be removed except to update...
Yes, it’s included in 2LT and 3LT. See my edited post above.
When I did some more digging agreed included in 2LT and 3LT. The interesting part is the navigation Feature is left off (omitted) many times when the PDR is mentioned as an included or optional feature. Too many peculiar things to learn for first time buyers to prevent being screwed. Don't miss the FE4 after driving my FE3, but it would have been nice to know the subtleties and differences when ordering vs after the fact.

I am a first time Corvette buyer too. I have learned everything I know from reading here and other digital sources which makes all of my “knowledge” suspect. Certain sources are better than others, I reference the order guide a lot. Things like FE3 versus FE4 (or FE1 versus FE2 in my case) has taken longer to understand but after reading about it in different threads, by different posters, I finally have an understanding.
One of the advantages for me, once I decided to wait for a 2021, is that I have had time to educate myself further and, hopefully, thoroughly understand what I am ordering, and more importantly, why. Fortunately I enjoy researching things before purchasing them as this has required a lot of research.

We have a 2013 and a 2014 Ford, and they both use SD cards for NAV. We just bought a Mercedes, and it comes with free updates for three years that come out twice a year. The part that sucks is that you have to take it to the dealer to update the NAV over a connection to Germany You can't do it yourself. That started in 2014 I believe.
My Nav wouldn’t open today and displayed the message: “SD card has been removed.” It gave no further info, including where the little guy was supposed to be. I first looked in the Infotainment manual, but other than list the aforementioned, it was silent. I then looked into the main Corvette manual that came with the car. On page 323 there’s a statement: “Navigation requires a specific OnStar or connected service plan. My car is a little over 4 months old and I’m thinking the Nav may have been disabled as a result of my free OnStar service expiring.

That should just be for the OnStar turn by turn directions that can be sent to the car from OnStar. If you have 2LT or 3LT, or added Nav to a 1LT, your Nav should still work. The SD card for the Nav system is in the center console by the USB plugs. See if the card is installed. Apparently it is flush when installed so a slight press in on the card will cause it to pop out so you can grab it. I would try removing and reinstalling the SD card. Did your Nav work before? Maybe something bumped the card slot and it has popped out or the SD card is bad.
FYI, I checked and the Nav SD card that came with my C8 is the latest when I checked the Website (https://gmnavdisc.navigation.com/cms...en_US/GMNA/USD) . All I had to put in was Make Model Year, nothing VIN specific, so it appears to be a Yearly update for the entire Model Year at one time. We'll see when it is available, if it is worth it or not.

If you bought a new vehicle, you have the latest map. You also don't have to update it each year. Most people only update every 3-4 years, because there aren't that many significant changes to be concerned about.. Its also not going to expire and stop working if you don't update it at the end of the year.
