Default Navigation SD card

Is there a navigation System SD card supposed to come with the C8? Or is it another feature that you have to purchase? ... Any and all information appreciated. Didn't find anything in any of the supplied manuals.

Fyi, it gets plugged in inside Center Console next to usb connection.

Isn't that the SD card that is in the center console?

Yes, I said that. Do not confuse it with the SD card inside the glove box for the PDR.

So, obvious question: You have Nav on your build? Either 2LT or 3LT or ordered option IOT on a 1LT? Can you go into Nav on the Infotainment screen and see a map? If you do, then the SD card is already present. Yes, it should come with the SD card if you have Nav.

Doing configuration was a lonnnnng time ago. But I remembered as I came back to check posts. No I didn't order that option. Google Maps and Android Auto does a better job.

I searched the online infotainment manual and found
"See www.gmnavdisc.com for details on ordering, purchasing, and installing a new or replacement SD card."

Navigation comes standard on many less expensive upper end vehicles.

Standard on the 2LT and 3LT. Since you don't have Nav, you won't have the Nav SD card. Buying the Nav SD card will not do anything for you.

Also, with no Nav you don't have the PDR - option UQT.

UQT Performance data and video recorder
1 - Included and only available with (IOT) Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium system with connected Navigation.

I have an SD card in PDR and its recording. I have not done track mode with it, but I didn't see any restrictions when I went into the PDR screen/ap.

You've got me confused. If you have the PDR, then you have Nav. You say you didn't order IOT, so you must have a 2LT or 3LT. Correct? If not, then you must have ordered IOT. That's the only ways you can have the PDR. Can you display a map when you select Nav on the Infotainment screen? Have you double checked to see if the Nav SD card is already in the reader?

C8J posted the link for map updates in post #5. You have to pay for updates and they are only issued annually.

Did they really put in an SD card for the Nav? In the C7 (16+) the only SD card slot is for the PDR, which really has nothing to do with NAV. You get maps updates on a USB flash drive...

Yes, GM has gone to putting the Nav data on an SD card. My wife's 2020 XT4 also has the nav data on an SD card. Updates are easier now - just plug in the new SD card.

From the 2020 C8 Infotainment Manual:

The Nav application requires a map
database to run. It is stored on an
SD card that is connected to the
infotainment system.

This!! I had a 3LT 2014 and now a 2017 with NAV, the update is applied through a USB that you have to purchase. I don't believe that any modern NAV systems use SD cards or any other media anymore, all memory is internal.

From the 2020 C8 Infotainment Manual:
This must have started after the 2017 model year. Is this a feature of just the C8 and not previous year Corvettes?

As I said before, GM is switching to SD card for Nav. 2020 C8 and 2020 XT4 and others use SD cards for Nav. At least some models had them in 2019. The SD card makes updates easier - no need to transfer the database from USB thumb drive to internal system memory.

This is what the Navigation screen looks like with and without the phone connected. Without phone, it just shows where you are as you travel, but no navigation with a route.

You can put a destination into the Nav and it will show the route and give route guidance. You can also change the scale of the map displayed. You obviously have the SD card in the Nav SD card reader.

I double checked. I missed it being all the way in AND black, I didn't see it. That area has little light. Only because I'm used to SD card operations, was I able to remove it. Many may not know to push in to remove. I had to use a fingernail- what little I had.

What option did this come with - 2LT, Z51, ...? I don't remember ordering it separately.

I'll need to check update costs. I can't believe that they are going to be reasonable.
