Default C8 Grill Inserts

Has anyone installed these? Are the difficult to install and are they necessary?

Not to difficult, I think they are needed to help keep the radiators free of bugs,etc...I got a set from Customcargrills.com.

Here is the seller’s website -> https://c8grills.com/

And his installation video ->

The seller lives less than an hour from me. I might stop by and pick up a set!

I installed mine this past weekend, not hard if you have a lift, I kept adjusting the lift height to make the install as easy as possible. If I did this on the ground, would have taken significantly longer than the one hour I spent installing. This is not hard work, it’s detail work. It take time to loop the zip ties in and out of the mesh grills, more tedious than difficult. Once the grills are in, they look great and look stock! GM should have these designed into the front end clip.

Rbacik, which wheels are those? They look great!
I assume it's necessary to remove splitter to make life easier?
If so, and you order a non Z51 this must be the time to add a splitter if desired?
Would driving up on ramps help considerably for screen install?

The screws that hold the splitter on are the same ones without the splitter holding the belly pan on. Yes it is a good time to add the splitter since those same screws go back in. I did mine while on a Quick Jack as high as it would go, ramps would be a must at the very least. This is what it looks like when being installed.

You can watch the video I posted in Post #5 to get an idea what’s involved. After you have the screws out, you just put the splitter in place before you put back the screws.

Of course the question is do these inserts interfere with air flow/cooling in a detrimental way?

And the answer is no, they have no detrimental impact at all. On an 85 degree day, my car runs at 180 degrees which is about 20-30 degrees cooler than any other vehicle I have. I'm guessing smashed over fins blocking the air completely doesn't do the cooling any favors.

That is a nice setup. I was unaware of a garage door opener like that which would allow a car lift to go so high. What type is that opener?

There is a vid (by Daily Downshift - don’t know them, but this was a no nonsense vid) of the grill protector installation with only removing the front of the belly pan. They let the front hang and exposes more than enough room to install all four pieces.

Caltak, would it be possible for you to draw a sketch for the small grill opening from the kit that you received?
This would be of a great help for the one that will do their own parts.

Bizbiz911, I’ll try to get it done during the weekend, the small inserts are only 30.00 dollars and I think we’ll worth since you will be protecting the
complete front end.

If I had it to do over again I would buy the Grill Guards that go on the outside using 3M Tape.
They aren't cheap but neither was my C8. Horse Power Obsessed has a Video showing the installation.

I put on the Guards that go behind the Grill using the plastic zip ties to hold them in place.
Don't own a Lift so I did the install flat on my back in the Driveway.
It was pain in the *** but I got it done.
