1970 246 Dino GT, I was 23. It was a non-running basket case but, aside from the interior it as a complete car. I paid $8000 for it. $10,000 and 18 months later (and a lot of sweat equity) it was mine. I owned it for 15 years. For about 18 months it was my only car.
I was just looking at a 73 on BAT just before seeing this thread... Bid at $285k with 1 day to go...
2025 C8 Z06/7/E-Ray of the Year Winner - Unmodified
2021 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
My first and only--until I get the C8--was a 1985 Fiero that I bought new. A couple of years later, the brakes failed while driving down a steep hill, and I used the parking brake to get the car stopped so I didn't crash into the cars waiting at a traffic light.
1985, Porsche 911 Carrera, Coupe...Guards Red! Factory whale tail. Like glue on the road!
Rear engined, as all production 911s are.
For me 1985 Fiero GT, and 2005 Lotus Elise in terms of mid engine with the cockpit ahead of the engine. 1986, 1990, 2001 Corvettes as all C4 on Corvettes are mid engine with cockpit behind the engine.
RKCRLR - Nice looking car. Some times we hang on to stuff. A friend has a Delorean that needs a bunch of work. Won't get rid of it and don't want to fix it.

I recall in 1974 was looking to get my 1st Vette and even my Uncle, who was General Manager of a large Chevy Dealer, could not get me one. Funny it was a bad year for cars with EPA forcing pollution rules that manufactures were not prepared to deal with. They lowered compression, added exhaust air pumps etc. The max power for a Vette was about 200 hp BUT sales were very high!
Looked at getting a Dino (did not even have a Ferrari name as I recall.) It would have been about twice the price of what I bought, a Datsun 260, BUT could not get one or the wait was many months!
Even Datsun had performance issues although they had increased the cid over the 240Z to retain power. I solved those by adding long tube headers (which eliminated the air pump,) Blocking the hot water going to the intake manifold, replacing the large Hitachi SU variable venturi air/fuel ratio control needles to richen the mixture and increasing ignition timing.
