My father in law was a machinist at the Tonawanda engine plant in Buffalo. The tool crib guys would go in when the plant was shut down and do maintenance. This usually happened on regular planned shutdowns. Not sure if they would take this time for some upkeep. One would think so.
What is his name? I worked at Tonawanda for 20yrs before transferring to Bowling green. PM if ya want too.
Thanks

ADoes anyone know if they are shipping cars mine is sitting in the lot .?
I’ve gotten conflicting reports. I spoke with a concierge rep yesterday and she said no cars shipped last week because of the plant closure. However, a forum member says for a fact cars were shipped to Florida last week.
I’m in the same boat as you. My car was produced the week of 1/18. It’s still sitting in the lot waiting to ship. My dealer is 6 hrs up the road in Central Ohio. I suppose the weather could be a factor for the delay.
I called the concierge on 1/25 and was told my car was produced on or before 1/20. At that time, the concierge said the order status was 3800. Dealer thought my car would arrive by the end of the week (1/29). Called concierge on 1/29 and order status moved to 4000 and that’s where it’s been for the past week.
I remember when my car went 3000 in January of 2020 and it didn’t deliver until 9/11/2020. Don’t panic... things aren’t as bad as they appear.
It’s the glass half full versus half empty thing. I’m whining because I’m down here in Florida with perfect weather to drive around in my HTC with the top down. My order ordeal started in Dec of ‘19. I know a lot of folks have waited longer than I have to get their C8 so I don’t have much of a leg to stand on. Still frustrating none the less because delivery is finally within reach.
I remember a story that made the news a couple of years ago. Apparently a small group of Chrysler employees were caught smoking dope in the parking lot during their "smoke" break. Chrysler immediately fired the employees and called the police, who seized the illegal drugs. Chrysler was then apparently forced by the union to rehire the employees and provide back pay, under threat of a plant wide strike. If true (and it made several major newspapers), it is just a small sampling of the breathtaking power the unions have seized over the years...
Union membership has been on a steady DECLINE. Union power is at its lowest level since forever.
Last time I drifted off topic like this by myself I got my post removed...guess the union stuff is ok.
