All brands have some failures. Our 2014 Cherokee had to have a new transmission at 62,000 miles (catastrophic failure) and the Grand Cherokee had a NAV that lost it's way, thought we were 150 miles north of where we live. Multiple attempts to recalibrate by me and the dealer failed. Took months for a new head unit to come in. (pre COVID) All of our issues were fixed with no hassle and were 100% covered by warranty. The fact they handled everything so well means I wouldn't stay away from the brand if they come out with some model I want.
Lots of Jeeps currently being made that don't have solid front and rear axles. Wrangler/Wrangler Unlimited and the Gladiator are the only products with solid axles. Every other Jeep has independent front and rear.

When people just say “Jeep” and not specify “Grand Cherokee” or “Patriot” or whatever, it’s universally understood to mean Wrangler.
With all the various threads on the C8's suspension/ride, mag ride vs none, z51 vs none, FE1, FE3, FE4, .... it hit me as I saw a jeep drive by, regardless of mode, possibly except FE4 in track mode, the ride has got to be superior to that of a jeep. Talking comfort, ... obviously not handling with possibly the exception of off road.
Depends what kind of Jeep. A Wrangler will drive 1000% worse than a C8. A Grand Cherokee Trackhawk? That would probably ride and handle pretty good for a mid/full size SUV.

To the untrained eye, they are all the same, except color.
Sorry to say I'm in that group.
Just like here before I joined. All Corvettes were the "same", except for the C1 and C2s.

I should clarify then, as I've apparently got lazy by typing out only Jeep (oddly enough, my parents, also Corvette owners, simply refer to their Grand Cherokee as a "Jeep" most the time).
My current garage with the C7 & Chevy Volt sold while awaiting the C8:
-2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Elite
-2021 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk
I'm personally not a huge fan of Wranglers, but have plenty of friends who love them. I'm fine giving up a little off-road capability for the additional on-road comforts, cargo space, and tow rating. Grand Cherokees are long overdue for a refresh, but the upcoming model looks promising.

We referred to our Grand Cherokee as a “Jeep” amongst ourselves (1 syllable “Jeep” vs the mouthful, 4 syllable “Grand Cherokee”) but out in public specified that it was a “Grand Cherokee”. Didn’t even shorten it to “Cherokee” as that is a lower vehicle beneath our station .
When we got the Wrangler it became “Jeep” and the Grand Cherokee became “Grand Cherokee”.
Amongst non Jeep civilians who are unfamiliar with the Jeep lineup, the word “Jeep” conjures up images of anything from a WWII *****’s to a CJ, to a Wrangler. In fact my Wrangler even has a statement on the screen that says “Since 1941” long before the Wrangler model even existed,
I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland.
Ridiculously smooth ride on the road but still very capable. MPG was actually pretty good, in the mid-20s.
I miss it sometimes.

Yeah, but when OP says "I saw a Jeep" today, I take it as Wrangler. Could be my snobbery though, but to me they aren't talking about rebadged Fiats.
Coming from the Jeep forums, people pay big money to make the ride worse.
It’s an interesting culture shock going from Corvette forums to Jeep forums and back again.

Yep loved and needed my 1974 CJ5 V8 when I lived in NE OH. Ride couldn't be worse than with the OEM tires. Rattled your teeth. Got much better when I installed the 1st All-Terrain radials that came on the market. Ran 16 psi on all 4. Definitely a softer ride. Fun off-roading in the summer and for the many snow storms we had all winter along Lake Eire in NE OH!
Thought pic of friend in summer and winter would be better than mine!

This was also my plan. Perfect combination.
Unfortunately, when I was wiping down my fully loaded 2019 Rubicon 2 weeks ago, I found that every hinge on every door had tons of rust around it (under the paint). The two front doors also had rust at the bottom of the doors.
The next day, a Ford dealer sold it off of my for just a couple grand less than what I paid 2.5 years ago. They are selling it for more than the original MSRP now. They truly hold their value (I've sold multiple Wranglers for close to purchase price in the past). I'd buy another in a second.
It’s the clash of the titans! Jeep Wrangler fans are as die hard as Corvette fans. I’ve owned 6 Jeeps (Wranglers) and loved having the top down and doors off. I wanted to have more power and having admired Corvettes my whole life I made the jump to a C8 coupe. The removable top is okay but I had to sell it to order a HTC. Some people aren’t convertible people and that’s fine. For me, I have to have as much open sky above me as I can.
From: Calgary, AB. There's a reason why white was the only color offered on every year Corvette. Proud Canadian German Jamaican!

You couldn't pay me to own a Jeep Wrangler, the only time they're good at what they're supposed to be good at is when you throw a **** ton of money at them and even then they ride like ****.
During my RVing days, I use to flat tow a Jeep Wrangler behind my Class C Jayco. Those days lasted about 19 months, ending rather quickly with an exploding blank tank line during an end of camping week flush.
I tried to sell the RV with the Jeep as an aggressively priced "set" had absolutely NO takers. After the RV sold the Jeep Wrangler went strait to CarMax, never looked back.
I would compare the Jeep Wrangler ownership experience to the black tank line incident.

Either way enjoy the ride!
I plan to have both at the same time. Cars are like golf clubs, you need more than just a putter in your bag, know what I’m sayin?

They come with all terrains now, but it’s popular to chuck those and go with 37” mud terrains before you make it home from the dealer. Then, to really one up your manliness, it’s expected you rip out the carpet so it feels and sounds like driving a construction vehicle on the highway before you even make your first payment.
They’re actually fairly comfortable if you don’t mess with them.
