Yes, Tremac opened a facility in Michigan and that is where the DTC is currently assembled by Tremac. GM plans to take over the assembly and move it to Canada.

The transmission is shipped to GM-BG fully assembled by the Tremec plant in Michigan. If Tremec can't get enough of the necessary parts it needs to fully assemble the DCT transaxle, it cannot deliver the contractually agreed upon number of transmissions.

A lot of manufacturers are facing this, and depending upon the part(s), the vehicle can be built and the missing part(s) installed later. Some manufacturers are storing mostly assembled vehicles waiting for the missing part(s).

However, it makes zero sense to assemble a C8 without a transmission.

Earlier conversations framed it such that GM was waiting on a tx part vs the assembled Tx. One has to watch how they use pronouns. They are all over the place- often used incorrectly. And I'm NOT referring to anomtomically. That is an off forum thread. I think an SAT score from the 50s and 60s of 500-600 would be an 800+ today. The parts supply chain is likely (hopefully) different from manufacturing, since it likely comes in bottles when going to a dealer.
GM recommends that if you plan to Track the C8, 2 qts of Trans Fluid be added, at 7,500 mile service. That's to help with cooling. Not needed unless car is Tracked.

I love the comments on waiting for the 2022s. What makes folks think anything will be different with shutdowns?

I said that during the 2020 MY / SS for the 2021 MY. Unfortunately, I do NOT see anything changing (yet) that for the 2022 MY - The POS is not over. Not until some come to their senses and the vaccine is distributed worldwide. This is not just a first world problem. It affects EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE regardless of affiliations or wallet size.

It doesn’t matter. One statement probably came 2nd hand from a spokesperson and the other 3rd hand from another spokesperson. GM is under no obligation to share any details. Anything we do know is probably only a small fraction of the real story. The end result is there is a two week wait: if it takes longer it takes longer.

Agreed. My post was specifically a comment on the Flagrant Improper use of language.

Whatever the reason(s) for the shutdown, hope that GM gets things sorted out soon and gets back to producing the C8. Has to be frustrating to those that have been patiently waiting for their cars.

It doesn't matter whether it's GM or a supplier facing a particular part shortage. If a supplier has a shortage then GM has a shortage. It all amounts to the same thing, an inability to produce C8s at max capacity. Debating who is physically waiting for parts and pieces is pedantic.

Evidence, please. No disrespect, but you saying it doesn’t make it so.

Thanks — I’d think if the shutdown was because they are trying to diagnose and fix a common tranny flaw they would put a halt to delivering the C8’s that have been produced...
