Zero issues. I’ve had mine since mid April, the top has been down and up probably 10 times a week since I got it.

Sounds like I'm having the same problem. Midway through the opening sequence, I hear a loud snap. Please let me know if you find out the problem. rgodbout@ne.rr.com Thanks

Mine did that the first few times then it went away. With each operation of the top, it just faded away. After operating it about 30 times, I no longer heard the snapping sound.

Default HTC major issues

We picked up our 2022 at the dealer on Monday the 25th. The very next day had an issue with one of the latches on the front not hooking in and wouldn't close. I cycled it back and tried again, this time working. This happened a couple more times the next day. Three days after having the car had to take back to dealer. The top wouldn't line up at all at the front or the seam in the center of the top. I was able to maneuver so it would lock in front, but its a mess.
They are ordering new sensors and they said it was out of alignment. They also said someone from engineering would have to be brought in. I assume from factory.
This is not going to fixed quickly. Disappointed because our driving season is about over.

New member here.
We just picked up our 2022 C8 convertible from the dealer on Monday the 25th. First day was great. Love the car. Day two, went to put the top up and passenger side doesn't go into hook on right front, gets jammed. I lowered top back down and second time worked. On the third day nothing is lining up and wont close at all. We brought back to dealer. They are ordering new sensors, and said that the top was out of alignment. They had also said they were going to bring in someone from engineering. I assume that means from the factory. This isn't going to be fixed quickly. A little disappointed since our driving season is about over now, but have been lucky to have some good days to drive the car.

Default Yes, mine broke at less than 3k miles

Mine broke out of the blue. It intermittently would not lower. I brought it to the dealer, then they called me to say it was fine and they couldn’t see anything wrong with it. When I picked it up I tried to lower it before leaving and it wouldn’t go. Fortunately they witnessed it not work and kept it overnight. The next day they ordered a part so I drove it home until the part came. Meanwhile there was some perfect weather so I lowered it and after that it would not raise again. It’s currently at the dealer now as the part they ordered wasn’t enough. It will lower for them but not raise. Apparently they are seeking help from GM since they haven’t repaired a top yet. So, a manual override would be nice because yes they can break. No, I didn’t do anything to cause it. Also, no complaints about the dealer’s service department. I understand it’s their first encounter with a broken HTC C8. Still, the weather is extremely nice at the moment so it’s disappointing to say the least.

Exactly the status of my four month old 2021 HTC. It has been diagnosed at the dealer, Chevrolet factory reps have advised and the trim pieces needed to restore the interior headliner back together are being ordered (on back order of course). The hole will be drilled to provide access to the stuck latches. No way to fix the "stuck in the up position" without literally tearing a bit of the inside pieces to pieces.

Default Update on Top

Just to update our situation. We can raise and lower the top. I have to stand outside the car and guide it into position for it to close. With the top down we can drive the car at any speed. With the top up we have a 58 mph limiter, (top not latched properly warning.) We are waiting for parts and for GM engineers to schedule a meeting to look at problem. Supposedly the first issue of this kind at our dealer. (Top out of alignment.) We have the car in our garage waiting to hear something as far as getting this fixed. I have a feeling we are in for a long wait. Our driving season is just about over. We've only had the car for two weeks, a bit of a disappointment. We did put 100 miles on it this weekend, love the car!!

So I just picked up my 2021 HTC from the dealer after bringing it in and describing a popping sound when putting the top up. Sure enough after looking at it for a day or so a team of 2 techs finally figured out that there was a metal guild or latch that was out of alignment so every time I would try to put the to- up it would get caught inside until it forced its way up and that was creating the popping sound. They realigned that piece and now the top works flawlessly. I give these techs credit as they have not dealt with many HTC with top opening and closing issues but now they have a split should another C8 HTC be brought in doing the same thing. Thanks Ferman Chevrolet in Tampa !1

There are two "claws" on each side, as it opens and shuts, it extends and recedes. I drive mine daily. Well at 15,000 miles one receded, one did not, a cable popped and broke in the HTC mechanism. The entire HTC mechanics had to be replaced to fix this problem. There are no parts you can order. My mechanic had to teach GM how to do the repair for 2 others that were having the same issue. There is also a faulty sensor chip that let's your car know the top is completed when down and completed when up. This chip was altered by my mechanic and works great now. Unfortunately, you cannot order just the sensor chip, only the entire top replacement parts. If and when you have these issues, contact me.

I was watching a museum delivery of a convertible yesterday. Top would not latch on passenger side. They brought the "old guys dressed in black" to look at it. One went back to get some tools. It still was not right when they drove it away. I really felt for the owners who had to endure that, especially when they must have flown in to pick up their car as they had their overnight bags with them. This is not the first time I have seen issues with the retractable at the museum. Another time they had an issue that they detected before the owner showed up. They quickly whisked the car away. I placed my deposit for a 2022 C8 on June 16th and was assured that my order would go in sometime in February 2022. I still have a few months to go, but it is looking more like my 6th Corvette is going to be another Coupe. I just hope that the top on the coupe is not too much of a chore to remove. The one on my 1991 was no lightweight. If someone can provide a comparison to the ease/weight of removing the C4 versus C8 top, that would be nice.

I wouldn’t avoid a HTC just because of a couple delivery hiccups. Overall they seem pretty reliable.
Sounds more like the factory guys are counting on the museum folks to do their QC work for them as opposed to some widespread engineering problem.

I agree that its not an engineering issue. I may have answered my own question as to targa top weight. Fiberglass C4 30lbs. C8 Fiberglass top 15.5lbs.
If that is correct, I think I can handle that with no assistance.

I just got the word what the problem is with my top two days ago. I had the same problem with the claw on the passenger side not getting in all the way to get pulled down. They are ordering two new motors for the top. One is moving faster than the other, so the two sides are not getting there at the same time, thus out of alignment at closing. He said he should have the parts at the end of this past week, well that didn't happen. But he did say a simple one day fix.
I would not forgo the HTC. It is awesome!!

That brings back memories of the headlight motors on my split window coupe. And the ones in my 1990 and 1991.
