No problems. If you read all internet posts about them, you’d think they never work. Happy people don’t post about their roof working, so results are very skewed.

when I was having issues with my top I thought I was the only one. I Googled and could not find people complaining about C8 tops. But it does seem that for most cars they are great.

Where are all these posts ? I thought I was one of only a very few people with a convertible top problem.

Well the car is fixed... However the fabric that covers those flaps has a small hole in it and it also got scratched somewhere along the line. They ordered a new part and they're going to call me when it comes in. So all is well except for a barely noticeable cosmetic issue.

It looks like this is a plastic piece that a couple of people have had problems with. Not sure what GM was thinking when they made the retaining piece out of plastic that obviously has a good chance to break with the tension and heat it is exposed to.

I only have 1800 miles and the cable that pulls down the large padded hooks in the convertible top literally snapped. Now I get to drive 40 minutes to dealership. Good times.

There are quite a few people who have had cable problems with the cable that runs from the motor on each side to each nacelle. The cable folds the nacelle under the top as it is being lowered. The plastic fitting on the end of the cable that attaches it to the motor brakes. It happened to my passenger side last May, and my drivers side last week. Each nacelle is attached to a metal rod. When this happened to me, I had to manually fold the nacelle under the top and tape it in place using a heavy tape which I put over the rod. Each time the dealer ordered a new cable which took 2 days to arrive, and the dealer installed it while I waited. Took less than an hour. This is a design problem and I do not know if Chevy is doing anything to solve the problem. Keep in mind that the convertible top on the C8 was designed by and is manufactured by the same folks that manufacture the tops for the mid engine Ferrari HTCs.

Mine started doing this two weeks ago. Working fine now but I would like to know your experience with a possible cause and solution.

I have 4,100 miles on mine and have opened and closed the top probably 100 times or more. I just noticed the the passenger side mechanism piece that some say has a large space gap is covered in fabric. It appears that my fabric is tearing. It must be rubbing during the open and closing process. I will be taking it to the dealer for repair and adjustment. The photo below shows the issue with the fabric on two ends of the panel with the gap.

Gap with the roof panel and tears in the fabric on the side passenger mechanism.

6000 miles and my car has been flawless in every way. I love putting the top up or down while moving through an intersection. Fun to watch people gawk.

I'm thinking on buying a few spare cables just for the future for what sounds like the inevitable that's going to happen.

Quite a few (a hundred thousand?) more who haven't had a problem. 2021 with 21,500 miles and I put the top down most drives. So far so good.

No problems thus far, but I only have a little over 500 miles. Haha.

I will say, somewhat unrelated, that I came really close to getting a coupe. A convertible was my first choice, and I have to say, I'm really glad I stuck with my first choice. I love the ability to open and close the roof on the fly and I also prefer the rear profile of the convertible to the coupe. However, I think all of us HTC owners will admit, yes, of course we wish we could see the engine.

Mine went in for the same thing after just 1000 miles. Popping sounds at first then it faded away. My wife noticed the fabric tear and when I dropped the top slowly, I saw where it was hitting. Dealer looked, ordered the part and I returned when it arrived. Tech made the adjustments and no more problems. Good luck.
