I don't think that would help at all in this situation. The damaged wheels were preventing them from being shipped out. In fact, I think a number of people DO plan to get aftermarket wheels, so they don't care if the wheels are damaged, but they still can't get their car.

Yeah, I was kind of thinking the same thing. If true, another good teachable moment.
The logistics part, however, doesn't make that much sense to me as my car is going to MM. They can easily put my car on a truck for MM with all of the cars going there.
No no I didn't mean your car is waiting to fill a truck, but that cars for smaller markets could be stored in the same area and that the cars not on QC hold but waiting for a carrier combined with cars on QC hold has led to a jam packed lot with little room to reach earlier cars.
The whole situation has got to be a monumental logistics nightmare when hundreds or even thousands of cars need to be stored and their 'usual' storage area was never envisioned to need to hold so many cars at once, let alone hold them in a way that allows easy ingress/egress of cars in order of build date.
Can you share with me their contact information? You can DM direct.

This makes sense…..my Dealer said today he was told it’s a trucker shortage problem and his still waiting for 10 cars to be delivered that are delayed.
Thanks (I strongly believe) to great efforts by Mark M. at MacMulkin, Shane at the Museum, and (probably) the GM rep who happened to be at MM yesterday and whose ear Mark M bent on my behalf, we were just told by Shane W that our car will get the taillight replaced this morning and be delivered to the Museum at 1:00 today.
So we are taking the calculated risk of getting on a plane to Nashville out of PHL at 3:30 today. Fingers crossed...
if you end up getting bumped to Friday, maybe I’ll see you there! My flight out of Philly is tomorrow evening.
Good luck!!!!

I was addressing the posts that refer to badly porous wheels. Corvette of late has had a spate of bad wheels.
But isn't the same thing true, that GM wouldn't release them to the customer, so if they had the bad wheels, they still wouldn't be able to get their car and replace them? Or am I missing what you're saying?

After calling Chevrolet and opening a case # My dealer was sent a message that the car is no longer 4D00 and will arrive by 12/8 😀
I was built 2 days after you and my dealer confirmed today my ETA is 12/8 as well BUT he said 80% of the time this is wrong. I'll feel better when I hit 4200 and Shipped until I hold my breadth.
Eh, they're trucks. If you use a truck like a TRUCK, it's gonna get dirty, dinged up, etc. And mud on the under carriage means they were probably driven out of the field, not carried out. I wouldn't want my vette in a muddy field but a truck? That would be a silly thing to worry about.
Dealer texted me later after earlier telling me my ETA was 12/8 that my event code is now 4150 which is Original Invoice. I have no idea how GM moves through their codes but I was at 4000 last Friday, 4D00 on Monday and now 4150 so hopefully that means I am 100% out of QC and just waiting to be moved to 4200--Shipped!

Once you get Onstar activated you can watch the car move and do not have to rely on updates. I am doing that right now with ours.

Do you know how the dealer can do this? I bet my dealer will say they can't do it. If you know the steps I will share with them. tks
I do not know how - I just got an email saying he activated it for us. If they are a Chevy dealer they must know how to activate this on all their cars.
