Right, I always get these people saying don't buy the first year model because of problems. Hell, here we are into the 3rd year and still the same problem. Same with the C7 and A8 transmission issues! 6 years of it!

 

Lots of very knowledgeable people with good insight skills…I have studied everything I can find on the DCT issues.
I am an older “backyard mechanic corvette hobby guy. Although almost 70 I am inclined to hold off on my possible soon allocation. Not convinced the current DCT is completely sorted out. It is a complex car and the DCT is the heart of the new design. Accepting an automatic car is challenging in itself for me. The dealers doing major surgery on new car is also a concern. And then no one really tells us what was defective on the transmissions they replace…
The whole thing about adding the two quarts seems pretty muddled.
The contamination thing- if there is stuff floating around in your transmission would it not be better to run just a little until hot and change fluid and filter.-even if sensor lights do not come on? Or is the transmission producing the contamination?
one last question as someone who still likes to hot rod a bit.- I know I can break stuff very easily on my old big block vette.
So is the launch mode that has all the built in safety stuff-maybe too much for the design?

 

Fragile they are not. They beat the dog **** out of them every day at Ron Fellows school. They have you practice multiple launch control starts, etc. and when on track, you are in manual mode only. Anytime GM has a new major assembly, they always remove and replace to see why something went wrong. A bunch of these have been fixed with a flush though and are back on the road and the vast majority haven't had any failure. This is an amazing car and I wouldn't wait for anything if I were you. Won't be long and we won't even have ICE, and that will be a sad day.
