Both our Mercs have the feature. We can park the car just fine - never used it.

I'm not trying to start anything here... but if you noticed his original post was not actually a question or asking for help. You guys should lighten up a bit and not take things so personally lol

I 100% agree our shared goal is to help each other, but we can have fun at the same time.

Which is not fixable!! Do you think tire and rim warranties will cover those? My dealer offers a cosmetic rim package that says it will replace or fix curb rash... Would be a bargain for those wheels.

I find those who have difficulty parallel parking, or reverse parking in general, often do not have their side mirrors adjusted correcty. If you can see the sides of your vehicle in your mirrors, they are not adjusted correctly.

Notice it says "may" move from their tilted position. I used this feature on my C7 but there was a bug with the system and they wouldn't return to the normal position. Very disconcerting when you don't notice it until you are trying to merge onto a busy freeway with a short onramp.
I subsequently changed it to only tilt the passenger mirror which is the one you need most of the time when parallel parking.

I was a bit surprised by the non-committal "may move", however in about 100 times (I reverse into parking spot) the mirror has always returned to standard position. I am not sure why anyone wants the driver side mirror to tilt because driver side would be illegal parking or at least so seldom you could do it manually. Just did a quick owners manual search and GM uses the word "may" 631 times. I think they should have more confidence.

In my particular case it was a software bug that occurred when my C7 detected my wife's key before mine and I interrupted the seat travel by pressing my memory button. Everything would go back to their proper positions except for the mirrors (sometimes). GM never corrected it.

But I agree with your may comment. The manual states that it "may" support different audio formats. Even if the car audio system did not support any audio format the statement would still be 100% correct. Not very useful.

Some one way streets have parallel parking on the left side and that is where tilting the driver's side mirror tilting down to prevent curb rash is useful. But that was a rare event for me.

I think the "may move" is must GM standard language because the feature isn't available on all trim levels. And they use the same boilerplate language in lots of car models, so they're covering their butts by using the word "may." You'll see this in the OM when referencing a lot of the features. "The doors may lock." "The seat may return..." etc., etc.

One-way streets with parallel parking on both sides are fairly common where we live. I usually park on one (Bell Street) when we go to my favorite hole-in-the-wall Italian restaurant - Cupini's on Westport Rd. in Kansas City.

I can say one time it DOES move is when you are in reverse for a while (not sure how long). I back my C8 from the street, up driveway and into garage and it will after @30 seconds or so revert the mirrors to the normal angle. If needed just select drive then right back to reverse.

I don't see that you actually asked for any constructive suggestions or advice. You just wanted to complain, so why can't other people respond in kind?

There's a wealth of information in the owner's manual. It might be worth taking some time to read through it. Maybe while sitting in the car so you can actually see and adjust settings as you read.

What did you expect? You made a statement that really served no purpose other than you saying you had trouble. It wasn't like you asked for advice or anything.

What is with the nonsense going on in here...

OP perhaps it may help if you tilt your mirrors and set your seating position on 2. This way when you back up or parallel park your mirrors are exactly where you want them to be.

I can hear and see those wheels grinding against the cement curb. One mistake and you're out $1 K. It's too much like gambling to me if you drive something expensive.

Actually, I like that idea. On the first vehicle I got with the auto-tilt in reverse feature, I ended up not liking it, and disabling it. And I disabled it on the C8. That's because when I back up for reasons other than parking next to a curb, like backing my car in or out of a garage with a relatively narrow door opening, I need to see the the things next to the car, not the curb view. Parking next to curb for me is much less often.
