When I look thru my rear view mirror camera I have double everything. Double roads as well as double cars behind me. I’ve tried all kinds of angles. It’s useless to me. I don’t know if it’s my eyes, camera or just the way it is. I suspect a defective camera. Help please!!!! BTW this is not a problem in my rear view camera it’s crystal clear
If you close one eye does the image appear correct? If so, there’s nothing wrong with the camera or mirror. If you still see double with one eye closed, it's a defect. Otherwise, your eyes will adapt within a short period of time.

ok so one eye works well should I drive with a patch over one eye all the time? 😂
With the lever pushed forward, adjust the mirror so you are looking at yourself; then pull the lever back. That is probably the best you are going to get.
If you like to occasionally use the real mirror, adjust the mirror so you can see out the back with the lever pushed forward and then pull the lever back. See if the view in the camera is acceptable.
After a lot of experimentation, I only use the camera mirror on multi-lane major highways for a better view of everything going on behind me. On small country roads, which surround our home, I stick with the mirror mirror.

will do so why have this anyway it isn’t very good imo

It depends on one's vision and how they adjust the mirror. People with good near vision generally don't have a problem adjusting the mirror so they can see out the back and then pull the lever forward for the mirror view. I need to use reading glasses and the camera view is a little blurry for me without glasses. So I momentarily flip the lever forward when I want a clearer view.
Some people have no problem with the camera mirror.
It really is dependent upon an individual's eyesight. The best position for me is to adjust it to the best viewing position for the mirror only, and turn the camera on when I want to use it without changing the mirror position at all.
The observation about some folk's brains wired to adjust over time is accurate. For example, the Lasik procedure for fixing poor close-up vision is to correct one eye for that and leave the other alone for normal distance vision. The test for whether one is a good candidate for that procedure is to wear a contact lens in one eye for a day to see if your vision adjusts. Some people can't, and I was one of those. I couldn't see in focus either near or far with the contact in, and I have 20/20 distance vision.
I see you are retired. Suggest you visit a neural opthamologist. I'm 78 and can't quickly focus between the road and the mirror/camera. Have a slight case of double vision brought on by weak muscles in my eye. Prescription fix was simple, plain glass lenses with a slight prism angular offset. I mostly don't need them for driving but they do work. What also works for me without the glasses is a quick glance at the visor which is a little closer than the mirror. My theory is that helps with the refocus.

I've been wearing glasses since I was 22 months old. That's over 65 years and bifocals for over 60 years. It's as natural as walking to tilt my head to make things focus. That said, the camera (mirror) is nearly always out of focus...BUT
It doesn't matter. All one really needs is to get the impression of where the vehicles behind are located and the speed of their approach or recession. I don't need to read their license plate, I just need to know how close they are. ..
The double vision thing of OP would however be extremely distracting... I like the double eye patch solution, but to each their own..

Too bad we paid all that $$$ for a poor rear view I’m gonna try the double patch with a bag over my head for being taken on the necessity of a broken camera.

BTW, you have a coupe per your picture, with the HTC, the camera does not work when the top is down, which is the way I drive the vast majority of the time.
