C8 Waitlist

I have a dealer! A friend put me in touch with a long-time friend that's a GM for a Chevy dealer. Their April allocations are spoken for but he said I can have their first May allocation. They are not msrp, a couple grand more. Sounded like he was lowering their markup for me some. He also anwered my call on his personal cell and called me by name. I think I'll be treated well.
I said I'd never pay above MSRP... but I'm going to. I talked with or emailed 12-14 dealers. Everyone I visited with has a markup except MM and Ciocca and the only dealer I spoke with that I would have a "shot" at getting a 2023 AE is MM. Their list is nearly 800 people and they have averaged 160 allocations/month this model year. Allocations would have to go through the end of August with no production slow downs and/or a large number people on their list would have to bail in order for me to get a 2023. And it has to be a 2023 for me. I love the AE pearl white, interior, wheels, etc.
I've never had a "new" Corvette and the only car I've ordered is my 2022 Audi S4 (going up for sale/trade-in). The Audi is the most expensive car we've ever purchased. A new C8 will be a ~50% increase.
But I've dreamed about a new Corvette since grade school, so it's finally time.I thought I knew exactly what I wanted last week when I inquired on car reflected in Ciocca's inventory. But the car is a special order and sold. Stumbling onto that car convinced me I needed to try to find an AE edition this year. Then, I saw GM extended production through September 1 and I thought, maybe I could still order one. I actually found the guy who purchased the car from Ciocca and he's on this forum. I PM'd him and several other members. They were all soooo responsive and soooo helpful. I've read dozens of threads and although I was close to what I thought I wanted, this forum helped me fine tune my build and get what I want, no more, no less.
I plan to repost this message and my build specs in a new thread.
It isn't something they "offer", but from what I understand, when prices were about to increase on 24s they put all of the 1200+ orders on their wait-list into the GM workbench so the initial MSRP for the 23 MY would be "protected" on the sold orders. Just one of many reasons why they're the #1 Corvette dealer.
I saved close to $3k on my build due to price protection, so essentially I bought under MSRP.
