Dashboard problems
I spoke specifically about a leather dash that "bubbles" up or detaches from the dashboard surface, as typically depicted when users complain about (or worry about) the 3LT.
An adhesive failure doesn't require heat or cold to cause a failure. If the adhesive is adequate and doing its job, it won't cause the material to separate and bubble or detach from the dash. I will not argue this point since it has often been discussed here. In this thread alone, an example of an adhesive failure in 42-degree weather was posted. 3LT dashes have experienced adhesive failure in dealership showroom floors and people's garages. This is ample proof that temperature cycling has little to do with adhesive failure.

On a C7 GM article on the interior said they use 3 soft touch materials:1) Napa Leather (which is real tanned animal hide) 2) Mulan their coined name for faux leather and 3 Vinyl. Mulan can be whatever GM elects it to be. In the C7 is was speculated to be bonded leather which is typically Vinyl with 10 to 20% finely ground real animal hide mixed in the resin that is applied to a backing.
For the C8 what one member found a 3LT dash part he bought was Polyurethane fabric a higher quaintly petroleum based faux leather than Vinyl (salt based.) So since the 1LT and 2LT C7 dash and apparently the same with the 1LT and 2LT C8 don't have issues we assume it's made from Vinyl. GM does not say. The only thing stated is the GT2 seats have the seating surface (and only the seating surface) made from real tanned animal hide Napa leather. They state the bolsters are made from their faux leather Mulan. The GT2 seats state the seating surface is Mulan. Actually they don't say what those bolsters are made from.

But if the 3 option has dash issues, then that's two things I'll need to swap over from a 2; the steering wheel (minus the horn cap) and the dash cover.

Somewhat frustrating that the Corvette is honest about the car except for interior materials. This is not because of Tadge and his folks. Mulan is a GM Corporate Marketing Name. Just like Chryslers old Corinthian Leather. No such thing is was a coined name by their ad agency! Can bet GM Marking folks have lots of power and if they say you cannot say what Mulan all must follow.

Yep, think we have been thru this before. Looks like between the microfiber seat insets and bolters there is a small amount of a real dead animal Napa leather hide. But the Bolters are Mulan per that GM doc on seats.
Frankly they don't say the dash etc is Mulan either. Didn't on the C7. By deduction since some C7 and C8 3LT dashes have issues and few if any 1LT and 2LT do it's assumed the 3LT dash is their coined name Mulan. Whatever that is for the C8. Can be whatever GM elects it be or agrees with the interior supplier. Their name for fake leather can be whatever.
BTW Vinyl is called leather by some:
Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Leather: PVC leather, also known as vinyl leather, is a synthetic vegan leather option. It is made by applying a layer of PVC to a fabric base. PVC leather is known for its durability, water resistance, and affordability.
