Porsche SUVs saved the brand. Bentley SUV is sold out for several years. Lambo, Ferrari, et al have SUVs that are on allotment. Brand extensions are the sign of the times. Cashing in on the Corvette cache makes total sense to me.

It would only make sense if Chevrolet was getting out of the passenger car business like Buick has done. At the rate they are going it could come down to that. The Camaro is dead after 2024 and the Malibu may see a 2025 model but it, too, is basically dead. Unlike Porsche and the rest of the Euro entries into the SUV market, Corvette is not a make but a model of Chevrolet. You don't see a Porsche 911 SUV. Chevrolet already has the Suburban, Tahoe, Traverse, Equinox, Blazer, Trailblazer, and Trax. How many more SUVs does Chevrolet need? If Chevrolet wanted a performance SUV, they should have used the Colorado platform and put in a V8 either TT or SC. My $.02.
I'm good with Chevrolet building a High Performance SUV however I hope they find a different name for it other than Corvette.
I can see corvette being it’s own brand in the very near future I mean if you go to Chevy website they don’t put together all corvettes as 1 model with 4 variants they have them as 4 different models wearing the same corvette name in previous generations it was just 1 model and zo6 was un upgraded or package as was the ZR1 and gs now they have them separated as the performance section of Chevy with 4 models to choose from I think that way it gets the customer used to seeing it corvettes as it’s own line with 4 vehicles
It appears you missed my point...Allow me to clarify....

Corvette is the only Chevrolet model that does not have the Bow Tie logo on it someplace. I judge it is it's own brand already. Remember the Dodge Ram? Now simply RAM. There are no rules in auto marketing. Except this one. There are no rules.
If Chevy wanted a high performance SUV, then they could come out with a high dollar Traverse or Equinox based SS.
they can do that as they did before but it didn’t work out because it didn’t have the prestige that Porsche or lambos have now if corvette which is getting up in prestige becomes it’s own brand and makes a performance suv it Will definitely be competing with the bmw M suv or Porsche suv something that all the other performance Chevy suv never did

that is exactly what GM is doing with corvette just as Chrysler did with dodge and ram, dodge ram had its own line of vehicles it was not one vehicle with 3 or 4 variants it had different models and it eventually separated as its own brand although it was sold right next to a dodge

Precisely but not what some of the old guard, jort and white tennies crowd is looking for. The industry trend is away from cars. Offer a good looking Corvette SUV with powerfull V8 and it will sell big time. Remember when scores of Corvette fans preached about how a mid engine C8 would be the end of the model. How'd that brilliant prediction unfold.

They did kinda try once recently. My C6 was one of the model years that had the GM Chicklet. As I recall, many folks removed them. Obviously, GM recognized their mistake.
I agree that there is zero reason to turn Corvette into an entire brand unless GM commits to going all-in with standalone dealerships and service departments providing an overall better experience. I think the majority of Corvette owners (specifically C8 owners) would appreciate a separate dealership with technicians trained to service the Corvette vs having to call around to dozens of chevy dealers in an attempt to try to find a qualified trained tech with experience working on the car.
If all they do is stick the Corvette script on an Equinox and find a way to stuff an LT7 in it that's hardly going to attract a following and definitely not one that would be willing to shell out $150K for the opportunity to own it. I think they already have their performance SUV platforms available through Cadillac or the poor mans version in a hopped up Blazer. Just call it the BlazEray.

This. The video in the OP looks and sounds like an AI rendered AI voiceover clickbait nonsense.
In talking with Dealers they expect an announcement within a year and some have an interest list for the Corvette SUV. I assume the larger dealers may have more insider information.
what if it came out as an amazing design that gave families an option so that they could have both a corvette and a a corvette SUV so that you dont have to sacrifice driving the corvette for the family vehicle.
I dont want to see something cheesy, esp not what ford did with the mustang mach-e, but have you seen how amazing those lambo suvs are...they are absolutely incredible.
As with anything in this world - the original is always the best, but there are certain variants that can absolutly play off the original concept and succeed.
GM can just make a cool performance SUV. No need to slap a Corvette badge on it.
Posrche didn’t make a 911 SUV and Lamborghini didn’t make an Aventador SUV.
No need for a Corvette SUV. Just make something new. Thats what Porsche and Lamborghini did.

There is literally a bow tie on the badge on the front of the Corvette.
