The current Corvette chassis doesn't seem to fit what would be needed for a practical "SUV". The midengine design is a problem IMHO.
You can't have an SUV with a mid engine design so it will be a front engine. The discussion is that there would be 2 offerings 1) on the Cadillac CT 4 Frame with a 3.6 liter 472hp engine and 2) on the CT 5 Blackwing with a 6.2 liter 668 Hp engine. I assume they will be awd.
At this point they have AI renditions that look good. But the actual SUV could differ significantly from the AI rendition.
Corvette is the only Chevrolet model that does not have the Bow Tie logo on it someplace. I judge it is it's own brand already. Remember the Dodge Ram? Now simply RAM. There are no rules in auto marketing. Except this one. There are no rules.
I think several things keep people out of a corvette.
1. Lack of utility
2. Cost
3. Most Americans are too fat to get in and out of it.
GM could fix #1 and #2 with a silly suv vette. Not sure they would water down the Corvette name, but greedy pencil pushers at gm might not car about legacy 🤔
Water down? Tell that to Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini.....
One of my big laments is that I bought a 3-pedal CTS-V coupe rather than the wagon, had I bought the wagon I'd still have it... the coupe was traded for C7.
I'd be in the market for a Corvette SUV. I travel a lot and do a lot of things. I'd love to be able to take my Vette upland bird shooting and skeet and on trap trips around the country. I did that sort of thing with my C4s, C6s, and C7s. My C8 doesn't have the cargo space to do it.... Yeti has to go in the passenger seat.

This SUV conversation always has too many comparisons to what Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari did. At that point just throw Rolls Royce and Bentley in there too but Corvette never has and never will be what these brands are unless GM makes a decision to spin off the Corvette name and make it an upscale BRAND and an owners experience that matches.
GM cannot even match Toyota in the upscale brand experience that is Lexus so how are they going to do what Ferrari or Lamborghini or Porsche does? The only option that even makes sense is to either just brand them all Cadillacs with Corvette drive trains or move Corvette out of Chevrolet dealerships and make it a brand alongside Cadillac and try to create a better owner experience. The problem is for every Corvette buyer that praises this decision two dozen existing Corvette owners will bitch about the fact that servicing their car just became even more expensive for no real benefit.

I'm not a fan of any upcoming Corvette SUV. Sounds like a weird idea. Doesn't hurt to try but I'd still take a Tahoe or a Yukon with a 6.2 for a true SUV feel, look, and versatility.
Considering what a complete POS the Porsche Macan is (I owned one and will never buy another Porsche because of it), I really hope GM doesn't do anything that stupid. They already make plenty of SUV's. The new Blazer seems to fit the space very nicely.

I loved all my Porsches, put more than 300K miles on them... not sure what you didn't like about the Macan. The only thing I didn't like was that I could NOT get the driver's seat comfortable for long drives. My Porsches served me well, with many across country trips. Been driving Corvettes 34 years -- LOTS of miles! and smiles! Road trip coming up Saturday.... I'm 83.
