Take road trips on state highways, not the Interstates. Interstates are boring. The back roads are where you can experience Americana.

I don't want any part of it! Way to intrusive. I will decide when to interrupt.

How about Blind spot monitoring which would be extremely helpful on these cars. I wish my C7 had it. The adaptive cruise is nice but not as important as BSM or parking sensors which apparently are not included on the new C8 which is a miss. I find the front camera's for curbs useless. Chevy needs to catch up here with this car.

I've never been in a vehicle with active cruise control but I don't think I'll ever be comfortable with a car making decisions for me. I have a hard time using regular cruise control with cars even within a few hundred meters of me because I prefer to be in control. I'm sure I wouldn't enjoy a Teslas auto drive feature either even though I think they are great advancements in technology.

I use regular cruise control in traffic. It is easy to do. I can modulate speed using the +/- buttons on the controls. One push up gets 1 mph up and one push down gets 1 mph down. The idea is to modulate speed with the hand controls without using the brakes just engine compression and acceleration. It takes a lot of situational awareness and forward/wide screen vision to do this so it is good practice for high speed driving on a track. It keeps you involved in what the hell you are doing. It is also more active than active cruise control since I can anticipate what is happening in traffic several vehicles ahead and react sooner than a computerized system that is only sensing what is directly in front of it and then reacting to what that object does. ACC works most of the time for those that are asleep at the switch.

Nowadays, I combine that process with the ACC that is on my Yukon. The ACC works just fine on the open highway if it isn’t too busy. I just try to change into the passing lane as soon as a vehicle is sensed in front of me. The occasional curve in the highway that results in ACC slamming on the brakes for a truck in the other lane is very annoying.

The base C8 Corvette has a back up camera. The 2LT has more sensors and another rear facing camera. Maybe you should review the base and optional features. You are correct that it does not have some of the safety features that are available on cars that are designed for those that like to passenger from the drivers seat. The C8 Corvette is designed for those that enjoy actively driving their cars. Those predictive systems work OK for passive drivers. Active drivers will likely cause the systems to intervene when it is not desirable.

I think some looking to buy C8s are not the target demographic.

I did not know the new C8 had parking sensors and BSM in 2LT trim. That's good. My 2LT C7 does not and I could sure use them. I do not consider parking sensors and BSM intrusive driver assistance items. I consider them standard equipment on most new cars at least those in higher price points. The new 911 has a drivers assistance items up the ying yang including radar braking that recognizes different sizes and shapes including "wild animals" according to their new reviews. I'm pretty sure people who buy the new 911 are active drivers who want the most out of their high performance car as well. Don't get me wrong. I do not like the fact that most new cars are coming with lane keep assist as that is promoting lazy driving habits. I do like the active cruise control feature but feel it should only work at higher highway speeds.

I do not want to encourage inattentive driving.
The Adaptive cruise doesn't mean you do not pay attention, as a matter of fact, you still need to pay attention to your driving or you will
be following someone at 35 mph on the interstate.
Just sayin................

and Tesla Autopilot doesn’t mean you do not pay attention either, you are supposed to keep you hands on the wheel, etc. It does encourage people to pay less attention and in fact they do, witness the pictures of sleeping drivers.

What it does not do is encourage you to pay more attention.

How does it improve driver experience and engagement?

Not so much I want ACC but what goes along with it is auto braking both front and rear. The other option I really like on my car is the 360 degree cameras that's makes backing into a parking spot a breeze way better than just a backup camera.

Have it in my wife’s MB SUV. It does work really well even will come to a full stop if needed. In my Corvette I only use cruse control if being followed by State Police and need to stay at the speed limit which is too hard for me to manually.
