Does anyone know why intelligent cruise control is not an option on the C8? Does the dual clutch transmission prevent this technology. It would seem to me that this tech would work in automatic transmission mode. This is a really nice feature for daily driving.

Maybe because it is supposed to be a driver centric car, and drivers should be paying attention and so no need for "intelligent" cruise?
Intelligent cruise control requires radar or lidar. That means sensors need to be incorporated into the car. Maybe they didn't want to spend the time and money doing that. So far I haven't been impressed with intelligent cruise control in the few cars I have ridden in that have it.

Interesting to hear you say that, Bill. I have it in my DD, a Volvo XC90 T8, and on my AMG GTR. I will never buy another DD without ACC, that’s for sure, and I think it’s a shame that the C8 won’t be available with it as it is a great stress reliever on the highway and safety feature IMHO.
Yeah regardless of your politics, automatic cruise is nice on the highway, and the stats coming out so far show these systems cut down on collisions. Nice feature for sure.
I have this on my Range Rover Sport and absolutely love it. Once a system that works is used, it becomes an extremely valuable tech option for peace of mind freeway driving. Much of my driving is freeway where adaptive cruise control is very much appreciated and provides a high level of comfort IMHO.

I have Adaptive Cruise on my Charger and it works amazingly well. On today's crowded freeways regular cruise is almost useless.

Rented a car with it and a PIA. Was driving from Youngstown to a town on Lake Eire and little traffic. Had to switch lanes or if not, way before I would not only was it changing speed, the high beams would go off way before I got close to a car in front. Hitting a deer on that rural highway because of no high beams is far worse than a driver in front flipping their mirror to night driving. I do shut them off but not that far back!
I'm not a distracted driver! I have my iPhone set for no calls when moving! Plenty of time to return mostly useless emails and texts when I stop. Don’t want beeps letting me know I just got another foolish text! When I drive with some folks I’m reminded of Pavlov’s dogs. Their phone beep causes a learned conditioned response to look at their phone!
Lack of active cruise control was what solidified a “not buying” decision on the C8 for me. I was willing to move to a 2-seat sports car for my only vehicle I drive 30k miles a year, but I’m not willing to go without ACC.
That being said, I’d bet the C8 gets ACC in 1-4 years. perhaps that’s when I’ll buy one.
Just like after 2005 the 2006 Corvette had major changes and then the 2015 had major changes over the 2014 MY - in both instances major changes were made/features added and a price jump to match- I'd expect this is one is the same - price jump is expected in 2021 and I'd bet it'll be because of modernized features. Adaptive Cruise being one of them.
^^Exactly...They can't give all of the bells and whistles away on the first new model year...they have to save those for future years to get you to sell your 2020 and go buy a newer one.

As my car won't be my daily driver, I won't mind
Major 2015 changes were PDR and A8, neither of which were ready in time for 2014. I doubt you will see ACC in the C8 run.

I will be buying a 2022 model year C8 and I hope that ACC is offered by then. My daily driver sedan has it and it is a little confusing when I drive my C6 and have to remember that this car will not "adapt" automatically.

Funny how many topics can be so controversial. ACC or not...like Chrome wheels or black....like less filling or tastes great....
I'm in the NOT group for ACC. Had it on my wife's XJR and disliked it.
But it surprises me some of the strong positions here that some would not buy a car that doesn't (or does) have it. I know driving habits are all different, but I personally don't use cruise on enough of a daily basis for it to be a make/break issue on the purchase. I'm not challenging anyone's strong position on it, just surprises me.
Used it for the first time on our trip to Disney a few years ago in a minivan and loved it. To the point that I'm getting a Model Y for the more intelligent auto pilot.
Would think that the costs are minimal for the actual parts since Toyota, Honda and Hyundai can put it on the most basic of cars, but maybe a design decision for the front end. Would be a welcome feature if the C8 is a daily driver or taken on long road trips. There is barely anything exciting or engaging about a 200 mile straight highway at the same speed.
