Default Cup 2s or something else

I bought an extra set of wheels for my C8 and deciding on rubber for track days.

Cup2, trofeo R, or Goodyear f1 supercar 3R

Was going to do 315/30/20s in the rear and 245/35/20 fronts.

anyone running any of these tires yet and have some feedback to share?

You might not like the answer but, sell them and buy a set of 18s after suppliers figure out the sizing.

It is not a bad answer but I want to track it soon. So I still need to get shoes for the 19 & 20 setup. Once a great set of 18's come out I will likely have a similar question with different options.

Last I checked supercar 3rs don't come in the sizes you want. Cup2s are probably your only bet.. expensive though. Maybe nt01??

I think you have plenty of time to get a set of 18s. I doubt any of us are going to be doing any track days before August at the earliest.

Thank you....I ordered the Cup2's. I didn't go with slicks because I am going to drive it to the track. I'll post how I liked them once I get a day on the track.

The Goodyear Supercar F1 R is available but the RS isn't. If the RS's were available in our size I would have tried them.

I appreciate everyone's feedback.

So true and where I stand with new rubber for the boxed forgelines. No need to look at new rubber for most of the year.

I have access to two different tracks during the shutdown. It may be a little lonely out there but I am okay with having the track to myself My tires come on Saturday. I'm going to the track Monday.

I went with CUP 2 NO (Porsche Specs) for now. When a great set of 18's are out, I will throw some slicks on and will be able to compare to the CUP 2s.

I did...nothing worthy in the size we need yet from bfg yet. My cup2 NO specs come tomorrow and it’s finally stop raining in San Diego so I should be able to scrub off some rubber before a track day on Monday.

I ceramic coated my spare Factory wheels today so hopefully they become easy to clean here on out. I’m going to have the black tridents clay bared and coated tomorrow too much BCE the cups go on the base wheels. Hopefully this keeps brake dust from accumulating and sticking.

A good friend of mine is a majority owner of a track. I can’t post it until COVIDs over because I don’t want to draw any attention or get anyone in trouble. He is closed to the public until they deem racing as essential or lift bans on company closures.

The Cup2, look mean on the stock wheels. About half of the tread as the sports

I follow a guy who's a hell of a driver and goes by the name of Turn In Track Out on YouTube. He's from Cali and he had a ZL1 1LE but recently purchased an older McLaren 12C as his latest track day car and he prefers the Goodyears 3R from the ZL1 1LE overall due to price and performance over the Cup2's and Trofeo's R.

Here's a video of him tracking and discussing the tires at his home track of Laguna Seca. Hope this helps going forward.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. His second session really highlights his skills. I’m sure I’m going to blow through the cup2s Monday, so I will try the Goodyear’s next. I was between them and the cups. Everyone who likes the Goodyears seem to be in lighter cars than the c8. Your friend’s McClaren is 600 lbs less than the C8. But the GT3 comes with Cup2s and it’s only2995 lbs.

Finding the right tire for the right car for the right temp and track conditions is always challenging. Usually there isn’t just one answer but I do think the Goodyear’s are worth a try next time.

the cup2s do look good however

The have a massive shoulder....very small tread depth

Profile and sidewalk look great

I am Mr. 18’s all around or 18/19’s but with so many things hanging in the air I wanted tires that can do it all ( street, autocross ,tracking) on my factory wheels so I went with the best 200

Tw in my opinion. Yes I’m putting a 275 on a 8.5 wheel for the tenth time I only wish the R71R’s came wider in 20’s
