Default C8 vs C7 Track Comparison

A lot of folks have been asking for me to compare the C7 to the C8. I don't have a direct stock to stock comparison but put together a new video where I broke down the closest I could find. showing both the data and video side by side. Some things to keep in mind as the bench racing begins:

The C7 had stock motor and trans but AP Racing brakes, Z06/Z07 springs and bars, DSC Sport shocks and controller, AMT Motorsports spherical bearings - it was on the stock Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires and this was my 4th day on track with the car. The C8 Z51 was stock other than an alignment, brake fluid, and the extra transmission fluid. This was my first day at the track with it and while it was my fastest lap of the day I also had a passenger in the car.

If you enjoy the content please subscribe - gas, brakes, and tires aren't cheap

Also, I don't think I posted here the video from that same day of me trying to keep up with a Ferrari 458 Speciale.

Excellent comparison. Great data comparison. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing Sean, good stuff!

Curious your thoughts on if the C7GS would benefit from C7Z06 gearing as personally not a fan of the 3-4 shift extension on the C5Z06, C6GS and C7GS transmission.

I saw your other thread on that. That is what I would've done with the GS.R if I hadn't gone with the sequential. The 3-4 shift didn't bother me but the taller 2nd would've been nice as an option and of course 5th gear is worthless in the GS on track. With stock power though the GS seemed to always be just at the end of 4th gear and never needed 5th. With more power you definitely want the shorter Z06 5th gear.

I haven't checked the specs but the C8 DCT feels very similar in gear ratios to the sequential in my GS.R - the C8 just has 2 extra gears.

The LT1 makes good torque like the LS7, so maybe not a big gain to be had. Have you made any laps in a stock C6Z06/7 on a modern fast tire for comparison by chance or know of another comparable driver with one?
