Have a c8 Z51 with track alignment but has been veering to the right. Dealership has tried to fix it but still veering. Any suggestions? Any corvette shops for race setup in Texas? Planning to go back to cota and need track setup. Thanks
Any before and after numbers of alignment? Have you made adjustments to the coilovers?
they went down by 1/2 inch
I didn’t even notice they changed the rear camber and still going to right. Have to send it back.
Actually when I drove it out of the showroom it was veering right, they fixed it got a little better. Had track alignenmt done and was perfect. Drove to cota, drove it hard at the track no problems. But when going home it started veering to the right more than before so they again fixed it and still some veering. This are the last numbers
Unfortunately it has been frustrating getting a good dealership in my area to do the alignment. Most of them don’t have the software yet they said and all have not worked on the C8.
Any suggestions where to send this for proper alignment and track tuning in Texas?
It literally looks as they absolutely made no changes at all. Not sure how the car started off (before measurements) with -3.0° in the front. Had this car been adjusted before? If so why would they set it up with so much camber in the front (which is fine for track) but not the rear which should of been -2.5°. Either way the top and bottom numbers are the same which shows they absolutely made no adjustments. Reason it’s pulling to the right the toe is so out and bad at each corner. Look at the total toe. I’m not expert but o have a good understanding based on the paper. You don’t have to have the exact software, it just shows them what the factory desired measurements need to be. The machine just reads what is and what was. Like the pic below. Definitely need to ask around and find a good alignment shop. Ask some performance shops if they do or source it out. Dealer needs to answer for this.

Texas is a pretty broad geography? But yeah dealerships and even so called performance shops are used to doing only street alignments. I've had good luck with Frank's Vettes, the shop at MSR Houston, and the shop at MSR Cresson. A good alignment makes such a difference.
Yes it had track alignment and I ran it at COTA was very responsive. and then they made the rear change 2 days ago when I brought it back
I don’t know why
Will have them put it back to track alignment and yes my concern was the toe too and informed them
unfortunately I don’t think they know what they are doing even after paying $1000 for track and fixing alignment
I informed corvette about this situation and they said they will talk to the dealership and see what the problem is
I live in South Texas but Houston is ok but I just don’t want anyone aside from dealership to touch the car right now to keep in under warranty

I usually get the toe set to zero when I get a car set up, then verify it myself, and then start tweaking to my preference. Suggest investing $100 for some toe plates and you will have a lifetime of unlimited tweaking. You will be pleasantly surprised how accurate you can be, by yourself, with a little discipline and care in the comfort of your own garage.
I had my C8 set to GM track spec and lowered to my preference at the dealer while it was being prepped for delivery. My semi-local (Michigan) dealer has a top notch tech and they do a lot of track day work on Corvettes and Camaros. Then I started to mess around with toe settings for autox, and adjusted it based on surface and tire.
It’s your front caster. Bring it down .5* on the left side, from whatever your right side measurement is. Your right side measurement is pretty much personal preference based on steering weight/heft, but I def wouldn’t exceed the track alignment caster spec unless you absolutely despise your steering rack and pump/motor.
Also, to nitpick, you rear camber is favoring a right push.
Make sure they use a steering wheel lock, dead centered. Then, camber-caster-toe.
You will be happy😎
*I’m very surprised to see this Hunter software that is new enough to carry the c8 spec, but STILL with no rear caster display🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️*

Brought it back again today to the same delearship. Put back track alignment and now it veers to the left and steering wheel 3-4 degrees to the right. I don't think they know what to do but I have paid them already. Any suggestions? Can't they just center the steering wheel and adjust the steering rods?
Will bring it back again tomorrow. I told them to put it back to stock alignment because as per manager chevrolet technician told them track alignment doesn't go straight in the streets. lol what BS. So I just want to put it back to stock and see if it goes straight. If not I can go to another dealership and should be under warranty.
Will track alignment make it out of warranty?
I'm just frustrated because tomorrow will be the fifth time the c8 will be adjusted. The 3rd time after track alignment.
Any good shops in corpus, san antonio, houston area that tune track alignment for the c8?
I am pending a call from a Corvette service specialist because I have notified them of the problem.
Thanks
Look at how you came in today vs. how you left last time. The heads were not mounted nearly the same and/or something moved (rack, heads, steering wheel). Discrepancy is massive, unless there have been adjustments between those two printouts and you have not shown results for.
Kindly ask for a refund, I don’t think they are competent. If you can’t get it, pay again at another shop and destroy them with gm customer service and Google reviews.
Wider tires + negative camber will cause a certain amount of rutt/road imperfection tracking to the left and right, but never results in a constant left or right push on all roads all the time.
Same thing I asked them why are the numbers from last time to the before different. Manager didn't know
Unfortunately I dont have much options of places to go down here but will go back to stock settings and hopefully it goes straight. I will have track alignment done somewhere else before the next COTA track day. I just want to make sure it's not a defective car. I still think its the inexperience of the shop.
Track alignment is just so much responsive compared to stock.
I just can't believe manager says GM tech says it wont track straight with track alignment. And that it should not be driven in the streets. One more time with them and I'm done.
What about fixing the toes front and rear? Will that alone make it run straight? What about steering link adjustments. I dont know how the car is designed so don't know what else to suggest to them.
Thanks
Setting tie rods and toe links/ eccentric bolts to a locked center steering wheel to fix steer ahead is less than half the battle.
The car is not defective if the tech hasn't discovered that by now.
What are you doing to address your left caster?
The tech is saying your car will be darty, and track weird on the street. But your symptom is a constant push to one side at all times. Two independent results with differing causes.
I’ve aligned over 100 different vehicles, I know my **** and they are ALL the same 3 specs you must interpret.
Go find yourself a young kid aligner with a ratchet clapped out 90’s foreign sports car in the parking lot. He will be hungry to get your car right.

They plan to increase left caster to 8.2
I do want to keep the track alignment
Any advise so I can suggest tomorrow before they put it back to stock ?
Thank you

Did you just rotate the front two tires? Are the pressures equal all around? Will they let YOU center the steering wheel where you want it? Lock that thing, and use the break pedal lock rod after the roll back.

7.1 left front caster and 0 out all your toe.
Good luck at COTA.
pressures are equal with nitrogen in it
I did mention rotation and they have not
how do they lock the steering wheel and break pedal lock?
I will inform them of all your suggestions
let’s see what they say
The Hunter machine requires a roll back and forth to align it’s lasers onto the reflectors. Then, a caster sweep by turning the front wheels on the unlocked turntables.
Now the measurements are displayed and ready to be adjusted.
Sit in the car and center the wheel by a series of back and forth motions to center the steering wheel between its top dead center play.
Now, two tools must be used. A spring loaded steering wheel lock goes between the seat and bottom of the steering wheel. The pressure keeps the steering wheel straight. AND a long rod is applied to wedge between the seat and brake pedal. This keeps the wheels from rolling at all during adjustment. We are talking hundredths of 1*, so the slightest movement of the heads will have you chasing an inaccurate number.
.5* lower caster on the LF than where you are happy with the steering feel caster on the RF.
