DCT shifting pattern

OK, today I was in touring mode at 60 in 8th, and I floored it. It dropped directly to 3rd. AT 58? in 7th, it dropped to 4th, then quickly shifted to 3rd.
So it appears it drops to to the lowest gear that is on the other shaft, then goes back to original gearset at an even lower gear. This makes since as it is the fast way to execute the shift. It certainly shifts faster from 7th to 4th to 3rd than I could shift from 7th to 3rd in a manual.
I have not tried in manual mode and holding the downshift lever to see how low and quick that would occur. Maybe someone else can try it.

Have not tried this yet but I have read that for downshifting in manual mode, hold down the shift paddle and the system will figure out what gear to select thus avoiding the multiple paddle taps.
On page 201 of the 2021 owner's manual it says:
To cause the transmission to downshift to the lowest gear possible for the vehicle speed, in Manual Paddle Shift or Temporary Manual Paddle Shift mode:
Pull and briefly hold the paddle. If the paddle continues to be held as the vehicle slows, downshifts will continue as vehicle speed allows.
The Manual Paddle Shift system will not allow an upshift or a downshift if vehicle speed is too fast or too slow, nor will it allow a start from any gear other than 1 (First) gear.
In the end, I believe that the Automatic mode reacts faster.

What you are talking about only Koenigsegg that I know of has developed a transmission to do that and skip gears.
