We ran MAF Translators on DSMs as well in conjunction with Apexi S-AFCs. Oh, and adding resistors to the temp sensor to trick the ECU into adding timing! Ahh the good ol' days...

I think you have to look at supply/demand. How many potential sales will they really have? And they have to offset that with their development costs (labor and parts are only skyrocketing in price, plus advertising costs, etc etc.)
I won't be buying this product. Whatever limited # of mods I may make wouldn't push the LT2 beyond the stock ECU parameters and ability to auto-tune to a degree.

It's funny that you brought up McLaren. A fully featured ECU reflash for a niche platform a fraction of the size of the C8 market is cheaper than this hopped up MAF translator. You're kind of making my point for me.

So a couple things:

1. Clearly going the piggyback route which requires additional hardware and another ECU is not something you are interested in which is perfectly fine, but plenty of people still will be interested considering I've personally sold half a dozen MoTec piggyback ECU systems to C8 owners.
2. While we (and everyone else) would love for the possibility to crack the stock ECU to get more performance out of the car at a better price point, that solution does not currently exist and possibly never will, so we worked our butts off (and so did many others) to come up with the best possible solution for C8 owners wanting to increase the hp considerably over stock. Is it a more expensive solution? Of course it is, but it is still a solution to this issue nonetheless and has proven to get great results (We have over 7k trouble free miles at 900whp)
3. Parts and tuning for new platforms is always going to be more expensive at first. This is because typically there are only a few companies that are doing R&D and development on the car and once things are figured out and proven then more companies jump into the market which usually brings pricing down.
4. Raw Material pricing and lack of employee manpower are at an all time high in the world right now, especially in our country. This means that not only are manufacturers having a hard time getting orders fulfilled as it is and with even higher overhead on production so very few companies are offering deals right now.

While it is completely possible that parts pricing will come down in the future, plenty of owners don't want to wait that long to modify their new C8 and are ok with paying premium prices to get more enjoyment out of their car. Again it is perfectly fine for you to not want to pay the premium pricing to modify the car and increase the power but discouraging people from doing things to their car because the price isn't acceptable to you isn't necessary either..

Just my two cents..

Thanks
Andrew

As I already said, and as you quoted, there's a huge difference between a Motec system and this Peitz MAF translator. My issue is with the exorbitant price of the Peitz system. Not what you're doing.

Yes but there is a MASSIVE difference between a MOTEC which is being used as a piggy back but in reality is a stand alone system vs something like a JB4 which is a traditional piggyback which just adjusts some sensors. I run one on my S5 and its MAF, MAP and HPFP, that's it.

From their description they are selling something that others sell for $800 and use almost universal hardware across all platforms for $3,500. It specifically says if you want to run over X power you will need port injectors and a controller for it so it is not a true standalone controller.

Plus if you read down near the bottom over 800hp they cut power in between shifts for the DCT.

I just emailed George over at Burger and asked him if they had plans for one.
