Wow. Sorry you lost the car, but I guess you are upgrading immediately so that is an awesome twist. Let me know if you want to sell the MCS though (I’m cringing at myself for typing that after you said you just lost your car: :-/ )
No problem. I was able to quickly get out of the car and was not hurt. Insurance covered the car, so everything is good. The ZO6 will be a track car only and requires 1500 miles before I can start beating on it. Therefore it may be a couple of months before I will know if the stock suspension and brakes are good enough.
Any issues or dash error lights from running the aftermarket seats?
Airbags still work?
Which seats did you go with and any size limitations?
I love my Sparco Evo II US, but it doesn’t fit into lots of cars. You’re one of the few I know who’s put aftermarket seats into a C8 and would appreciate any insight you can share.

What are the safety implications of putting in a race seat that disables all airbags while not having a welded in roll cage?
AFAIK, whatever airbag is remaining still works. So only the seat airbag would be missing. The race seat provides better protection for that scenario, but it's obviously not tested by the car manufacturer.
This was bumped from a while back. Been a hot spring and summer, the car hasnt moved since April... well i pulled it out of the garage to scoot it over to fit a Porsche back in the garage, haha.
Have some items i need to address on the car and we'll hit the track again in the fall. No use running this car when its 90+ degrees. Some of the other guys are making some big leaps on the cooling upgrades to the Z51 package, excited to see where they get with it!
Anyone try and overcome the error lights on the dash after a seat change by adding a seat wiring harness trying to jump/fool it to thinking the seat is still there and occupied, not sure myself how to do this, looking to see if others have tried?

In theory, you could disconnect all of the wiring underneath the seat and plug it back into the harness and stuff it under the seat. This would have to include the seatbelt buckle. Seems like a waste of time for two error notifications that can simply be ignored with the push of a button
Any updates on airbags? I’d like to run seats but the airbag defects scare me, and i’d like to know if there were any airbag false deployment issues with c8’s running race seats, or even without like some other gm cars.

as far as we know, the airbag system is unaffected by installing race seats. It doesn’t disable all the air bags just the ones that aren’t connected anymore.

And is that just the side curtain airbag attached to the seat? Not sure of any others connected to seat harness but could be.
I’ve had my race seat in for about 8 months, John probably has his in there for two years at least.
neither of us have had any issues.
you will get a dash error message, which you just click to ignore the box pop up. Then you’ll see the red airbag light which is on constantly. Also the seat belt light will be on constantly. Oddly it doesn’t chime which would be super annoying so I’m grateful for that lol.
you’ll also get notifications through onstar that there is an airbag issue but that’s to be expected
Also don't know if it changed over the years, but I cant get my seatbelt chime to stop by acknowledging on the steering wheel when warning comes up. If I accept the message, the chime comes on a minute later and stays on until I engage seatbelt. I had to use one of the bypass devices so it wasnt constantly chiming when running a harness. I have a '23

I’m assuming you are still using the factory seat though?
