Default Change oil soon message

I have a new to me 2022 3LT Z51 with 3500 miles. I'm getting a "change oil soon" message. Is this a time or miles message? I did a lot of searching and could not come up with the specific answer to this question. I apologize if it's been answered in an earlier thread. Thanks

Likely time; an oil changed is required at least every 12 months. If you're averaging 3,500 miles/year then save your freebie from Chevy (which includes a DCT filter) and have that performed sometime around 7k but before 7,500 miles.

As you know from reading the 2023 Owners Manual, you need to change the oil at least once per year. Page 248 covers the oil life monitor. It says it is based on a number of factors. It also says, and this is the specific answer to this question "It is possible that, if driving under the best conditions, the oil life system may not indicate that an oil change is necessary for up to a year."

The same information is on page 238 of the 2022 Owners Manual.

for me it is more time related than mileage. My 2022 has 3300 miles on it and i got it at the beginning of April 2022. Oil life is currently 31%

Just had my first oil change at 3400 miles. Oil life got down to 4% just before the 1 year mark.

You can download it from the Chevrolet.com website. Then you can search it on key words. Information is sometimes scattered around and not necessarily where you might expect to find it. Of course you can read it from cover to cover, but its over 300 pages - most of us won't recall every feature detail.
