Kuddos! And good intel you are sharing, can’t wait for the final result.
pins and springs and new bolts have never been necessary on the dozen+ base/z51 calipers I’ve done. Just DONT MANGLE then during removal. Not hard, just be patient.

No way to get around the ebrake bracket that I came across. The aftermarket bbk brackets should do the trick for you.

Also note, I priced out parts at a dozen GM Online Parts Houses. I started with just the 4 rotors and shipping, the difference in prices was up to $500 ($2101-$2606). It would of been a lot more with the added parts. I ended up going with GMPartsOutlet.Net. It pays to shop. I still believe I'll be right around $4500 all in. Also note I haven't addressed e-brake yet.

Live team update. Parts house says calipers can't ship and rotors on backorder with no ETA. With no calipers only option was to cancel. Looking elsewhere for the time being.

Just dam!!

Did you check on RockAuto? If they carry it, they usually ship it faster than any other online source...

I did, thanks. They appear to have Z51 calipers, rotors etc. no Z06 (Out Of Stock). I will note their prices as usual were great.

As a sidebar, was back at https://parts.gmparts.com looking again late yesterday. They showed dealers that did have calipers in stock so I've reached out to see if they have them.

Would it be a bad idea to consider just putting on the Z06 front brakes? The rears on a Z51 car are no overtaxed, but if the front to rear proportioning is changed with just Z06 fronts, that could that mess with the electronics? I run in Race 2 mode most of the time, so not sure how many nannies are active in that mode.

If I recall, Race 2 mode only cuts on power (mostly) through ignition timing, so it should not be impacting rear brakes unlike other modes.

Also keep in mind, Z06 brakes require 19" wheels on this car (which is why I ended up not doing the swap).

You have a point, the Z51 rears are 4 piston like the Z06, but the Z06 rotors are larger.

I've just ordered 19" front and rear BC forged wheels. That said, still looking at J57 converted to steel via Girodisc.

OK,, trying again different parts house, calipers only. Calipers are about $20 more each than last place,,, shipping relatively inexpensive. As a sidebar, one place wanted $559.89 to ship these four calipers LOL.

Just got notified the Red J56 calipers are on the way. I've been trying to order the rotors via parts.gmparts.com as they're having a 20% off sale (over $600) for the last few days. The transaction kept failing for some reason. The good news is It flowed today, rotors are ordered and I saved $400. I'm going to go ahead and order the e-brake stuff as well later today. The bad news is I had to use a dealer that's a couple hours away to get the best pricing, it's worth it though. The rotors were a little more expensive than the online parts house listed above,, but with the 20% off and no shipping they are a good deal.

So, for calipers and rotors I'm at $3411.

Here's the rest. Only thing I haven't gotten are the pin kits. I cant seem to order them via GM for some reason.

Most of money ($800 after 20% off) here is the E-Brake calipers and pads. Add in this total and I'm at $4376. With the Carbotech 1521 pads, pin kits and fluid I'll be right at $5000 give or take just a little. Note that this number would go up $625 without the 20% discount I got today.

Great thread. Can’t wait for pics and proof. I went with girodiscs front and rear and cobalt track pads.

Did you know the rear rotor on the C8 is larger than the front? I found that interesting.

One track day with my set up and it was flawless. Not a heavy braking track, but never and fade or shimmy.

Headed to COTA this weekend. FWIW: The Z06 with CCB’s is the bomb.

Small update, just received the pin kits for the front and rear caliper. I didn't know if I needed one or two pin kits,, I now know I needed two of each. An awful lot of money for what it is and why the hell didn't they come with the calipers?

Rear kit on left, front on right

Thanks @gtpvette !

Once you're done, if you don't mind, please post a summary of all parts for front and rear separately, and how much it cost you, so I can edit first post with the summary for others searching for this.

Happy new year everyone!!!

Edit: That pin kit looks identical to C7 stuff, and I think I only paid $20-30 at the time... That pricing is definitely unacceptable : (

WIll do brother. I suspect the front may be the same as some of the C7 parts. I almost ordered one but chickened out. The rear caliper I believe is new so probably only one that would work.

These are on the way, got via KNS, forum vendor. Ken has some great videos on C8 Z06 Brakes that I've been looking at.

One last post. As best as I can tell at this point I've bought everything less brake fluid and the pin kit for the e-brake calipers (more on that later). Based on my new spreadsheet, I'm at $5174.

I did receive the second set of pin kits for the regular calipers, what a rip off. I also got the CarboTech pads from KNS.

Bases on emails from GM, the dealer in Ft. Myers has received most of the remaining parts, including rotors but not all. I'm still waiting on a few brake hoses and the e-brake calipers. I could probably live without the e-brake stuff short term but I'm pretty sure I need those hoses.

I also ordered the remaining 2 Z06 springs and insulators from them and they look to be in. I've sent the dealer two emails asking for status but haven't heard back. I guess it's time for a call.

The thing is they aren't really local to me, they're in Ft. Myers and that's 3 hours away and I was hoping to only make one trip. My wife is heading over that way next week to visit family so I may have her collect what's available.

My local dealer has my front Z06 sway bar,, will be picking that up tomorrow.

The front calipers and hardware pictured above look very similar to ZL1 calipers. I would wonder how similar they are?
This may be a silly question as well, but would a rotor for the larger ZO7 brake package ever be offered (aftermarket) in a iron version in lieu of a CC rotor as an alternative for someone that either preferred iron or to save money on replacements but still retain the bigger diameter?
