Default C8 Tracking Questions

Has anyone tried a camber compromise for the C8 that gets taken to the track? An adjustment you keep on the car for road driving but helps on track days without hugely accelerating tire wear on street? Ot just experience tracking with the default street camber?

Anyone with experience tracking the C8 with radiator screens installed? Any overheating? Didnt the Corvette team warn about this initially, but now they sell screens as an option?

What else should I be considering before tracking with a C8? Things like DCT fluid topped off etc.

Thanks in advance!

I think high camber is not that awful on tire life. If anything, you could consider zero toe on fronts. It would make the steering a bit more nervous (less self-centering), but it would reduce the wear a bit?

Would love to hear what others have to say regarding radiator screens as well.

Tracking my C8 Z51 with Front -2.7*camber L/R, toe zero, 7.5-8*caster, Rear -2.2* camber, slight toe in and 0 caster (rear caster must be same both sides and either straight up or very slight negative). These specs have worked well for me all last year with Nankang CRS tires. Good tire wear and temps. No issues with the radiator screens either. Good luck.

Random ramblings that should help you out!

2.6F
2.1R
1/8th total toe in both rear/front (tbh, i don't know much about Toe, just went with shops recommendation)

I run RT660s on 18in wheels and probably close to halfway on my set and the wear is uncannily even. I think the inner wear gets balanced by track day outer edge wear (which is already lessened from stock due to camber). I autocross every (other) month and track a few times a year swapping tires when i know i'm not doing events for a while.

I also lowered my car. Lowered + camber + smaller wheels means i eat **** all the time, i would only choose 2/3 of those for quality of life.

I track with front radiator screens on, i've had them since day 1 so i can't speak for what it's like to track without. but never had a problem with heat. It's far too open for that.

Top up your DCT fluid (i did it through the drivers side by tilting the car), change brake fluid. car is good stock. When you start pushing you might get brake shuddering (there's a thread on this, i experienced this recently and it's common it seems). I generally track in Z-mode (because i can dial more settings in).

Get this track spray to help with rubber marks.

My latest struggle is being unable to hear the exhaust on track, might not be the case for most, but with my windows down, doing 130mph, it's not loud enough for me to count on. But i don't have the HUD so if i did, i probably wouldn't need to hear the exhaust to know my shift points.

I run the GM recommended track alignment and just leave it. I use different tires for the track vs normal driving. My street tires have no strange wear due to the alignment. I also run with radiator screens on the track with no issues, although I haven't run in really hot weather.

How about tramlining? Does it seem worse running max camber?

tramlining is present in stock for and is present with an alignment. its not bad, I do notice the crown of the road more. thats not bad either. probably because of the skinny front tire. it would be somewhat worse if the car gas a 275+front tire.

these are Hoosier R7s with -3.0 front-2.5 rear , GM’s recommendation, ran at 34-35 psi hot . You can see the outside edges are slightly more worn than rest of the tire. Same was true with Kanang tires. I have now added .5 degree

Interestingly, my Nankang AR1's want just a tad less negative camber in the back versus the GM recommended specs. The fronts seem to be pretty spot on. I run the stock Michelins on the street.

I've been tracking mine since last April, several tracks here in Europe. I have a compromise between the full-on track setting and the street setting and have seen no issues in either situation. Several experienced drivers have taken the car for laps and all have remarked how well it handled.

Here is more info on my settings:
