Brandon (answers emails) and I have already discussed my NA build. Brett reviewed my request this week. Already received NA heads/ cam build parts costs I posted in another thread.
9.7 NA is my end goal for my C8.

C5Z in my avatar is Brett’s old car with me driving to a 10.3 way back in the day

Thanks. I’m still doing my bolt ons to hopefully achieve my desired results. Next phase is the heads/cam. I really don’t think 9.7 @ 137+ is not in the cards as tuning is available. Once the trans tune is available haha it’s only going to get better 😎

9.7s is the goal? That is moving out. That will be mighty impressive on stock displacement. I wish you all the luck in the world and hope your build goes smoothly! How much weight do you think you'll have to cut to get there?

edit: rough calculation says you'll need about 700hp. You shall be an inspiration to us all if you can get there.

Yes 9.7 is my goal with stock displacement and NA

I think I can get 200 lbs out pretty easy. This fall I’ll start snooping around for more weight reduction

The first hundred pounds is child's play with these cars and then it starts getting a bit more difficult. I started attacking rotational weight and dropped about 50 pounds right off the bat. Could get another 50 or so out of the exhaust side components easily if I wanted to spend $8,000 to do it. Which I don't. The battery is an easy bit too. Li battery can easily drop 40 pounds.

Is a drag pack part of your plan to get to 9.7? There is a significant weight savings right there.

Yup battery and drag pack are the first. Light weight drag brakes are next.

Achievement unlocked! Your 1/4 e.t. is now estimated at 11.1s @ 124mph. Only 1.4s to go! Also, your toes are way too long. Swap them out for some stubby toes for weight savings.

Finding the power to achieve the 9.7 @137+ is definitely doable. Getting the dct give you a solid 60' is gonna be the trick. You're gonna need a 1.40 or better to get there.

I've been 1.51 multiple times and traction is my big issue. You may have to account for suspension work in your quest for that #.

On my Procharged C7 I installed adjustable sway bar, adjustable to links and drag alignment. It helped on that car so I’ll be looking for doing the same

700 should be doable with 6.2L to work with. How 'streetable' do you need it to be? She may be getting a little ignorant at that power level of 112hp/L. Old rule of thumb for GM small blocks is anything over 100hp/L and your mom might object to riding in it. My NA goal is 90hp/L but mine is for raping backroads, not chasing tenths.

I've got a 2020 so I've got a few more years of powertrain warranty. It's not worth 50 hp in a car that is already faster on the street than can be driven in a civilized way. So, maybe in a few years, and by then there will be heads and cam options that make sense as well.
