Borla told me 8 to 10hp was what they regularly saw for gsins.

with wierd outliers up to 20.

They posted the same here...

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1603608557

Either way you're probably not spending the 4k for the 9hp.

They told me via email their exhaust weighed 56lbs. I measured it at 60.6lbs. It is exactly 14lbs lighter than the NPP

how much did your dealer charge for installation? Did you buy it on the accessories website and add the installation price on there or did you get the installation price separately from the dealer?

I was quoted an estimate of between $600-$700 in Florida. Still trying to decide.

I'll do it for $400 but I'm in Palm Beach.

It's not a bad job at all.

I just drove my buddies home with the zmode and it certainly sounded way better than I thought it would....but definitely needs a bit more sound....I'm wondering if the type s is the best option of the 4 ( stock npp, gm borla, type s, atak)....worried that the atak one would be too loud and the gm borla too quiet...but it definitely needs a bit more now after driving it

I paid $434. The cheapest around was $250, but I wanted to stick with my regular dealership. I ordered through the Chevy Accessories website and selected dealer installation during that process.

I replaced the stock NPP with the Atak and though it sounded awesome, I thought it was too loud. I personally haven't heard the GM or the S-type in person, but I'm afraid the GM will be too quiet so I'm going with the S-type this time around. I'm having it installed at my local Chevy dealership for the price ($350) quoted on the GM accessory website.

My issue with the Atak is it's a completely different sound from the NPP, GM accessory and s type.

It sounds like a charger. Very deep and farty.

Make sure you listen to it before you buy.

I’m looking at buying the ATAK. Has anyone bought the non-GM accessory exhaust from borla and had it installed at a dealership? Will they install those systems or do they refuse?

It depends on the dealer. My dealer will not install any exhaust but the GM Borla. They won't do headers, the other Borlas, etc.

Plenty of aftermarket performance shops around though!

I can tell you from personal experience that I think the S-type is the sweetest. I have heard all 4, and have the S-Type installed on my C8. The ATAK is definitely the loudest but I think the S-type has the best quality sound and it is still plenty loud. Just my own opinion.

Sounds like that is what most people say...

How much louder was it vs stock when driving? It's definitely a different experience with the engine behind and the Sounds are much different.

Did you do a mild to wild switch or just use the zmode thing

I think a lot of guys are making their cars way too loud partially because with the engine out behind you, you're simply not hearing things like you used to when the headers were 24" from your ears in Corvettes of yore. They're craving that cabin noise, and to get it, the sound out of the rear of the car is antisocial. The stock NPP is decent and the high quality resonated systems are fine but these systems with no mufflers are ridiculous. Real quick way to become 'that guy' in your neighborhood.

That’s what my C4 ZR-1 is for: long tubes , no cats and straight through B&B mufflers and upgraded cams.
My question is which has the quieter Tour mode: valves Corsa or Borla S-type, I’m betting Corsa. Honestly as long as either is as quiet as stock NPP in Track, the wife will be ok with it (i.e. won’t notice).

It is a lot louder than stock when driving, although obviously not as loud as heard from outside the car. There is no mild to wild switch for the C8. I usually drive in MyMode with the exhaust set to Track. Sometimes I use Zmode with Engine/Shifting also set to track just because it downshifts at higher RPM and makes more burbles and pops.

Corsa claims their Tour mode is actually quieter than stock NPP by 1dB. To my ears, the GM Borla in Tour mode is not quite as loud as the stock NPP was in Sport.

Is there any drone with the S type? Coming from an MPRP Street on my last Mustang GT, the NPP is so quiet in comparison.

Nope, no drone at any speed, in any gear, even when it switches to V4. I don't think any exhaust on a C8 sounds as good as a good exhaust on a Mustang GT, but the Borla S-type does sound very sweet.
