I need some input please. My 2024 C8 has 2,500 miles on it. Next month we're going to drive Route 66 from Illinois to Santa Monica and back. At some point during this trip I'll probably hit 7,500 miles. I'm trying to figure out my options. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Locate/contact a service center in the area where you anticipate to be close to/at 7500 miles? Safe travels.

You can change the DCT filter between 7000 and 8000 miles. Which is a 1000 mile window. So, you might be able to predict or plan where you will be anywhere within that range. I've done that for other reasons on long road trips. Then you can research dealerships in the area and even get some forum help with good dealer in that area. Maybe even make an appointment in advance. Not much different that booking hotels for a long trip. It is possible that you will get a change oil soon message during that time as well. The manual says you have 600 miles after the message appears to change it. But, you could avoid that issue by getting an oil change before starting the trip.

Thank you ... but I'd still have to change the DCT filter while on the trip right?

As Andy just said, you have a 1000 mile window to replace the DCT canister filter. Not only is it free, but if you miss this, it can void your GM DCT future warranty.

AND....No matter what the dealer tells you, have them perform a hydraulic transmission flush prior to the old filter being changed. You may already know about this, read up on it.

Happy and safe travels.

Yes. My concern is that the Oil Life Monitor considers more than just miles, and so its possible that it will indicate that you need to change before you get to 7,500 miles or even 7000 miles - and before you get to the destination where you planned to have the filter changed. So, to avoid that issue (of needing to change the oil en route, but before 7000 miles), change the oil now and reset the OLM. When you get to where were planning to have the DCT filter changed, you will have put between 4500-5500 more miles (to put you in the 7000-8000 mile window). You can get engine oil/filter changed again and have the DCT filter changed.

The most important steps in the DCT filter change are the hydraulic system flush (mentioned above), before the filter change, but then after the filter change the procedure calls for a transmission fluid level check. Apparently some techs are skipping one or both steps. The second one involves getting the transmission up to temperature (its in the level check procedure), cycling between D and R while the engine is running , idling, then turning it off and cheking/topping off the fluid level. Its purpose is to replace fluid lost when the filter was changed. There is also a hydraulic system leak test at the very end of the DCT filter change procedure - there has been no information about exactly what that does - and no one has ever reported a negative result from that part of the procedure.
