Default C8 CAI / Filter suggestions

just getting started with bolt-on perf. parts on my Caffine / Kalahari HTC. Any suggestions on cold air intake systems and/or hi-flow filters?
My NA-1 NSX has the intake about where the C8 boomerangs are and it sure is bad-*** when you romp on it!
Trying to get close to same on the C8.
'preciate the input......

Assuming you're talking about aFe, they always run 20-30% off sales around the major holidays (sounds like you missed the Labor Day sale). Rather than the carbon fiber version, may I suggest their newly available plastic version for $602?

The performance is the exact same as the carbon fiber version I have on my car, the only difference is the intake tube is made from plastic rather than carbon fiber (which you can't see once installed anyway).

NICE! I have their ceramic coated headers and carbon fiber intake on my car. Just keep checking for sales around holidays or long weekends.

Here's my header thread (intake thread linked above): https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...port-cats.html

FYI just something to be cautious about. I know most havent had issues but my ARH headers that were jet coated melted lots of stuff in my engine bay due to temps including coils, plug wires, back up camera coax cable as well as some of the wiring harness connectors for the main harness and O2 sensors. This also destroyed my passenger side cat to to resulting misfires from coil/ wire issues. This was mostly under track use so maybe that is the only issue but would be cautious in stop and go traffic too.

All of the issues were on passenger side of my Z51 where there is a radiator behind the intake as opposed to just a fan on the drivers side so ambient air is warmer, this could be the difference.

were you able to fix/protect the pieces you had to replace or pull the headers and replace with stock or another brand?

Zero issues here with my internal & external coated aFe headers, and they've been installed for nearly 3 years already. Stop & go or sustained heavy usage in ambient temps up to 115F under the TX sun have been no issue. Engine/oil/DCT temps are rock solid mid-170's under most conditions; I also have Cerakote Titanium ceramic coated Corsa cats and did add the Corsa spark plug wire/boot covers for a little extra protection (https://www.corsaperformance.com/pro...boot-covers-c8) along with adding a bottle of Redline WaterWetter into my coolant reservoir.

I suspect the routing/layout of the ARH headers is what causes the majority of issues, while most other brands are packaged tighter and closer to the engine itself. aFe designed theirs with the HTC in-mind (hence why they offer the internal & external ceramic coated option) and did quite a bit of their actual R&D on a HTC model, while Lingenfelter offers the Corsa headers ceramic coated and includes the spark plug wire sheaths linked above (and have undergone heavy track testing).

yeah not sure if mine are coated internally, got them from another member. Didn’t seem to have issues until first track day after instal. Fluid temps were higher than normal.

i ended up just going back to stock after having issues 3 track days in a row. I may try to put them back in at some point with a wrap

I'd be happy to hook you up with forum discount on the intake/headers. Have the aFE/Corsa intakes in stock, along with Kooks Headers.
