Tranny flush question
As an aside, they changed the engine oil and filter without being asked. I did this myself last month. I know I get one change free, and I assume they will straighten that out.
Thanks for any thoughts.
There is no 1,700 service. The DCT filter needs to be replaced at 7,500 miles, 22,500 miles, and every 22,500 miles thereafter. The newer cars have a monitor that tells ypou when you are due for a DCT filter change. The DCT filter replacement procedure includes an internal hydraulic system flush that circulates the DCT fluid in a specific manner to move contamination into the DCT filter prior to replacement.
The DCT filter change interval is independent of the DCT fluid change interval and they may or may not coincide. There is no requirement to do them at the same time if they aren't due for replacement. The fluid change is just a drain and refill, not a flush. The DCT fluid needs to be changed every 45K miles or 3 years, whichever comes first (earlier if you track your car). There is a a DCT fluid life monitor but it doesn't track time so it is useless for most C8 owners.
Did you reset your oil life monitor when you changed your oil? If so, they should have seen that.
I took my car in for the an oil change and wanted to have the free service done and only had 7200 miles on the car. The service manager told me we can do it for you and it will cost $853. Go drive the car to 7500 miles and come back and GM covers it for free. Well, you know what I went back and it was free.
Please tell me how it was free then?

The requirement for the free DCT filter change on a 2024 and newer is the mileage needs to be between 7K and 8K miles. I believe they will also do it for free (or perhaps with a charge for an additional filter and some additional labor) with greater than 8K miles but then it is in violation of the 7K to 8K mile change requirement.
Read your owners manual and the letter Chevy sent to everyone if you don't believe me. Or your warranty benefits in your mychevy ap.
The DCT filter is due at 7500 miles and Chevy gives you a window of 7000 to 8000 to do it in. Do it at 6999 and by their letter you have to do it again in the mileage widow to keep your warranty. Not a window of 7500 to 9000.
Depending on year you could get it done early but that is not within the mileage to keep your warranty and you would have to pay for one between 7000 and 8000. Later years you could split the engine oil and DCT filter service and then they said they would only do it free if you had 7000 on the car. Year dependent. So the last part "If you try and do it at 7499 you will have to pay for it. Do it at 7953 and it is free." is also wrong.
And about "free". You or the original owner paid for these no cost services. Believe me they are not free. It's even on your window sticker as part of the standard vehicle price.
"The 7500 mile to 9000 mile one is done free by GM. If you try and do it at 7499 you will have to pay for it. Do it at 7953 and it is free."

If they ran the VIN in the system it would tell them if services were under a TSB, Recall or warranty.
I never received any sort of Recall or Warranty update letter from GM and am the original owner.
Not sure how many on here have to tell you they are wrong for you to believe it. You are not the first to have been told wrong information from a dealers service department.
The letter from Chevy telling you about the specifics for the service intervals has been posted multiple times. Easy to find if you look. And as I said your mychevy ap will tell you the specifics about when you can claim “free” service.
The “free” services were not a TSB or recall. They are listed under warranty.
Either way your first post was incorrect.

Prior to 2024 your free service was a combined oil change and DCT filter change and had to be claimed in the first two years. You can verify that in your Mychevy account which shows the status and terms of the free service. It can be claimed at any mileage and many have done it early including me at 2500 miles. But.....irrespective of the free service - you must have the filter changed between 7000-8000 miles even if done earlier. And, this information appears in the letter that was sent to all owners, for all years.
Starting in 2024, the free service was split into an oil change and a DCT filter change that can be claimed at different times. You have 2 years and no mileage limit to claim the free oil change. You have three years to claim the the free DCT filter change, but you must have at least 7000 miles to claim it. See the bulletin at this link.

None of this affects or changes the required service intervals. You must change the filter between 7000-8000 miles to comply with the scheduled maintenance.
The 7500-9000 miles is very wrong - and in fact if you go beyond 8000 and do not change it, you risk a warranty claim denial if you have a transmission issue.
