DCT canister filter calls for chasing the threads but there arent any m5 .8 chasers on the market I could find. After watching a few YT videos, I made my own chaser by cutting a bolt across the threads. Changed my dct filter this past weekend and the homemade chaser worked great. Got a lot of thread loctite out. Highly recommended
no a thread chaser is different. It does not change tolerances like a tap can. The go / no go gauge is not cut to trap de bris when cleaning a thread. This seems to be the best option - cut a bolt which doesnt impact the threads and allows one to clean the threads.
just buy a bolt and nut. Cut with dremel across threads and pow it is born. There are some good YT videos on how to make one. I use the nut to make sure it works before trying on car. Get a good quality bolt. I used stainless one.
Why buy one? You get new ones with the filter, use one of the old ones...
Procedure calls for threads to be cleaned of old loctite before installing new bolts. The above is how one could clean the threads. Used bolt does not clean unless cut and IMO is too short.

If they clean them I suspect they use some brake cleaner as a solvent and a stiff (non metallic) small diameter brush (pipe cleaner). You can spray the brake clean into the hole or soak the brush with it. Repeat as needed. Blow it out with some compressed air and you should be good to go.
